• GRI discussions are NOT panels. They are like after-dinner conversations in one’s own living room

with a few good friends under the guidance of the moderating Chair.

• Everyone participates equally, not just the Discussion (co-)Chairs. The job of the moderating Chair

is to make EVERYBODY talk and engage. Discussion co-Chairs sit scattered about the room

and participate no more, no less than anyone else in the room.

Joel H. Rothstein is a real estate, securitization and structured

Tan Kong Yam is Professor of Economics and Director of Asian

Research Centre at the Nanyang Technological University in

Singapore. He was a senior economist at the World Bank office in

Beijing from 2002 to 2005 and the chief economist of the Singapore

government (1999-2002). He is a graduate of Princeton (class of

1931 scholar, Paul Volcker prize) and Stanford University (1980‐83).

David Watt is the Chairman of DTZ North Asia. Based in Hong

Kong he has been responsible for DTZ’s Asia-Pacific investment

team for the past year and has been advising both investors into

the region and cross-border within the region. He originated DTZ’s

India business which has over 100 personnel in Mumbai, Delhi and

ARCH Capital is a boutique real estate private equity fund manager.

It is a JV with the Ayala Group of the Philippines. Its current Fund

targets opportunistic real estate investments in Asia ex-Japan

The ARCH team has significant experience in regional investment

acquisitions. Previously, Mr. Yue was Director of Investment at

Apartments, is between 21 and 25 degree centigrade during winter

Bingdong Zhao is a Vice President for Credit Suisse in Asia Pacific

Real Estate Finance and Securitization Group. Prior to joining Credit

Suisse, Mr. Zhao worked with Lehman Brothers in its Global Real

Estate Group in Tokyo. Mr. Zhao holds LLB from the University of

International Business and Economics in China, LLM from Queen’s

University in Canada, LLM in Corporate Law from NYU School of Law

in New York and MBA from University of North Carolina at Chapel

Hill. Mr. Zhao is a member of New York State Bar Association and a

licensed attorney in the PRC.

Lauren is the head of the Real Estate Principal Investment Area

(REPIA) Asia ex-Japan. REPIA manages over $24 billion of equity and

controls over $84 billion of real estate assets worldwide through

its Whitehall Street Real Estate Limited Partnership funds and its

Developing Markets Real Estate Fund. Lauren is a member of the

Developing Markets Real Estate Fund’s Investment Committee and

previously served as a trustee of InnVest REIT, a publicly traded

hospitality company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Lauren

graduated Phi Beta Kappa with an AB from Brown University and

earned an MBA from Harvard University. She and her husband, David

Shorrock, have three children and live in Hong Kong.
