ActionLine...Your Board Meeting Update July 22, 2009 Staff assignments approved The Aldine ISD Board of Education approved a number of staff assignments during its July 21 meeting. Janet Ray was named director of strategic planning at the Central Office after serving as principal at Stehlik Intermediate School, while Christina Snell was named assistant principal at Grantham Academy after serving as an ESL teacher at Stephens Elementary School. Ray and Snell were unable to attend the July Board meeting and will be recognized at the Aug. 18 meeting. Jacquelyn Narro was named assistant principal at Teague Middle School after serving as principal at Tijerina Elementary School in Houston ISD. Narro received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from UT-Pan American University in 1985, her master’s degree in library science from Sam Houston State University in 1993 and a master’s degree in administration from that same university in 2005. She is certified as a principal. She began her teaching career in 1987 as a science teacher at LaVilla High School in the LaVilla Independent School District. In 1990, she moved to the Houston area and accepted a position at Teague Middle School in Aldine ISD as a seventh-grade science teacher. In 1992, she transferred to Aldine Middle School as the library media specialist. After spending several years out of education, she returned to Aldine Middle School in 2004 as the library media specialist. In 2005, she was named an assistant principal at Bellaire High School in HISD before being named principal at Tijerina Elementary School in 2006. Narro has 13 years of experience in the field of education and she has spent eight of those years in Aldine ISD. Juan Santos was named assistant principal at Orange Grove Elementary School after serving as a teacher specialist/Title I coordinator at Barrick Elementary School in the Houston Independent School District. Santos received his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2003 from the University of Houston-Downtown and his master’s degree in education administration from the University of St. Thomas in 2008. He is certified as a principal. He began his teaching career in HISD as a third-grade bilingual teacher at Patterson Literature Magnet Elementary School in 2004. In 2006, he transferred to Barrick Elementary School to teach third-grade bilingual and in 2007 he assumed his current role as a teacher specialist/Title I coordinator at that same school. Santos has five years of experience in the field of education. The board also approved three administrative transfers during their July 21 meeting. Susan Perry was named an assistant principal at Nimitz Senior High School after serving as an A+ Intern at Aldine Senior High School, while Herminia Mancha was named an assistant principal at Aldine Senior High School after serving as an assistant principal at MacArthur Senior High School and Delilah Miller was named assistant principal at Aldine Senior High School after serving as an assistant principal at Stehlik Intermediate School.
