Welcome to MCC!<br />

As y<strong>our</strong> community college, we are committed to putting academic excellence and success<br />

within y<strong>our</strong> reach. <strong>Muskegon</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> (MCC) and the Foundation for <strong>Muskegon</strong><br />

<strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> work with generous friends, organizations, businesses, and academic<br />

departments to establish these scholarships to help you succeed in achieving y<strong>our</strong> educational<br />

goals. <strong>Scholarship</strong>s are designed to:<br />

• Recognize talent, leadership and academic excellence<br />

• Provide financial assistance; and<br />

• Enc<strong>our</strong>age you to start or continue a college education, receive training to become more<br />

employable, or advance within a particular career.<br />

Our goal is to provide a clear process for the scholarship process. Please note the following<br />

when applying for MCC scholarships:<br />

1. Information in this scholarship guide is accurate as of publication date in October 2012.<br />

Please visit muskegoncc.edu/scholarhips to learn about new scholarships, updated criteria,<br />

and other changes before submitting y<strong>our</strong> application.<br />

2. Admission to <strong>Muskegon</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is required for scholarship consideration.<br />

The free application is available online at muskegoncc.edu –simply click on “Apply Now”,<br />

and you’re on y<strong>our</strong> way!<br />

3. Y<strong>our</strong> high school transcripts must be on file at <strong>Muskegon</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>. These<br />

transcripts must be provided to MCC directly by y<strong>our</strong> high school.<br />

4. It is recommended that all students complete the Free Application for Federal Student<br />

Aid (FAFSA). Completion of this form is required for several scholarships. Complete<br />

the application online at www.fafsa.gov and be sure to enter the <strong>Muskegon</strong> <strong>Community</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> code, 002297. The results will automatically be sent to the Financial Aid<br />

Department at MCC.<br />

5. The application on page 2 is required for all MCC scholarships listed on pages 4 through<br />

6. In addition, several scholarship require additional materials; please review criteria<br />

carefully. Information about additional applications and other required materials is also<br />

available at muskegoncc.edu/scholarships.<br />

requirements: ACT scores of 24 or higher in<br />

math, and 19 or higher in English and reading<br />

• Full-time student status with a<br />

• Declared major with plans to pursue a<br />

baccalaureate degree in a STEM field<br />

MCC <strong>Scholarship</strong>s at the<br />

<strong>Community</strong> Foundation for <strong>Muskegon</strong> County<br />

The following funds are administered by the <strong>Community</strong> Foundation for <strong>Muskegon</strong> County<br />

(CFFMC) for the specific benefit of <strong>Muskegon</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> students. Most of<br />

these awards require that you apply directly to the <strong>Community</strong> Foundation<br />

for <strong>Muskegon</strong> County (visit www.cffmc.org/receive/scholarship). An added benefit of<br />

applying to this program is that applicants will be considered for ALL CFFMC <strong>Scholarship</strong>s,<br />

which are provided by over 275 separate scholarship funds.<br />
