Chris is a native of Iowa but moved to Texas in 1991.
He managed the caricature concession at Six Flags in
Arlington until the end of the 2001 season and has made
his living as a caricature artist for the past 20 years. He
currently draws caricatures at company parties, birthdays,
Mitzvahs, and in his studio from clients’ photos for
retirement and other specialty gift caricatures.
He became interested in watercolor through his dad, an
architect and “Sunday Painter”. While on summer breaks from college he would go out with his
dad and paint en plein aire around his hometown of Spencer. Buildings,
signs, motels, and railroads are favorite among his current subjects. He
recently won an Honorable Mention Award at the 2009 “Paint Historic
Waxahachie” plein aire event last June.
Chris is also a member of Texas Artists Coalition, SWS, and ISCA
(International Society of Caricature Artists) and will be working his 10 th
year drawing caricatures at the State Fair of Texas in September/October
doing his graphite and airbrush technique in the Embarcadero building in
Dallas.
See more about his caricatures on his website: www.GalvinArt.com.

commemorating Mexican Heritage Month.
The exhibits will hang for approximately one month. There is room for about 15 to 20 paintings, depending on size.
The display area is under observation of city employees all the time. No artwork or information can be exhibited on the
floor. (That area is used for other activities and events, except during our shows). Family friendly work—No nudes or
sexually suggestive work. Two or more of you can get together and exhibit artwork. Art League members have preference.

To Our DAL MEMBERS AND FRIENDS:
The calendar says it is spring time. The weatherman says it is spring
time. My yard man says it is spring time. The spring snow and my thermometer
says it is winter. Very confusing. I saw a bumper sticker the
other day in Missouri that said “How many inches of Global Warming
have you shoveled this winter?”
Regardless of the weather, Spring is here. Don’t miss the many opportunities
to view the gorgeous scenes that await us in the next few weeks.
The Arboretum is said to be outstanding and the azaleas are not even in
bloom yet. Bluebonnets are just around the corner.
Spring time also brings about the recharging of the Art League’s management
and operational staff with new members. Christine Lain and
her nominating committee may be calling on you to help. Most of the
jobs take less than an hour a month, some even less. With approximately
90 members, it should not be so difficult to get 8 or 9 or 10 members
to help. Lend a Hand! There are only a few spots to fill.
Our spring show is just around the corner. You have plenty of time to
get your art ready to enter. Lots of money and prizes. We expect to
have over $2,000.00 in prize money and gift merchandise (art gift certificates)
available.
Be sure to bring your “Art work of the Month” to the March meeting.
