HOLD’EM
SATURDAY 3.17.2012
DAVID GRANDIERI CLAIMS THE CHAMPIONSHIP
TROPHY AND THE $58,516 TOP PRIZE!
The 2012 Foxwoods Poker Classic $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack opened with 486 entrants on Saturday at 11 AM.
Eighty two returned at noon on Sunday to battle it out for the $249,853 prize pool. Two and a half hours would pass before the
money was reached at the 50th spot. Another seven hours would pass by the time the final table was reached. Six hours of final
table action was needed before Morgan Litwin of Brookfield, CT claimed $33,605 for 2nd while David Grandieri of Danbury, CT
captured the Championship Trophy, Commemorative Watch and $58,516 for the $600 NLH Champion!
Taking 10th place money of $3,622 was James Haefele of Shelton, CT after pushing his short stack in with AdKs. He was
called by Morgan with QhJh. The AcQsTsQc6s ended James’ night with Morgan’s trip Queens on the turn. Stephen “Dakota” Happas
bet 160,000 after the Ac9h2s flop and was raised another 250k by Patrick Cronin. The call by Dakota put him all-in. Dakota
turned over AdTs to AsJc for Patrick. The 4d3s to complete the board left Dakota with $5,600 to take back home to Braintree, MA
for his 9th place finish. Chris Day of Naples, FL took 8th place money of $6,903 after raising all-in with 315k on Tc6h. He was called
by David with Kd8d. The Jc9c7h5hAc board brought Chris’ run to an end. Next to leave was Jonas Bendiks who pushed all-in over
the top of Morgan’s raise to 80k. Morgan called and showed As6c to Td9d for Jonas. The 9h3h3s gave Jonas top pair, but the Ad
on the turn along with the meaningless 2s on the river, resigned Jonas to 7th place with $8,620 for the Melrose, MA resident. Finishing
in 6th was Louis Pito of Cheshire, CT. Lou moved all-in with his last 270k, and was called by David, Morgan, and Lee Pipper.
They all checked it down to the river, and after the AhJd2s5hKs board, Lou showed pocket 9’s to KcJc for two pair for David. Lou
would finish with a $10,619 payday. Lee Pippen of Watertown, MA re-raised to 550k over the top of David’s raise to 200k. David
called and bet 625k after the AdTs8d flop. Lee moved all-in with an additional 450k and David called. David turned over QcJc to
pocket 8’s and a set for Lee. The Qs on the turn did nothing for David, but the Kc on the river gave David the straight and left Lee
with $13,242 for his 5th place finish. Nick Bennett was next to move all-in. He was called by Morgan who showed AsQs to Dean’s
Th8h. Morgan hit top pair on the Qc5c3c flop, and with the 5s7d to complete the board, the final table’s initial chip leader would
collect $17,065 to take back home to Bennington, VT for his 4th place finish. Patrick Cronin of Norfolk, MA raised all-in with Js9s
and was called by David with pocket 9’s. The Ac8d6d on the flop left Patrick hoping for a Jack or runner-runner for a straight. The
7d on the turn raised the odds but the 8d on the river would leave Pat in 3rd earning $21,363.
The final two players were heads-up for half an hour when Morgan raised to 250k and was called by David. After the
Ts9d7d, Morgan pushed and was called. Morgan turned over QcJh for the open ender while David showed Qs9c for middle pair.
The 9’s held-up after the 7h4c completed the board and the tournament leaving Morgan Litwin with 2nd place money of $33,605,
while David Grandieri captured the Championship Trophy, Commemorative Watch, $58,516 and the title of 2012 Foxwoods Poker
Classic $600 NLH Champion!
