Triple Crown Golf Tournament

Saturday, October 9

The 6th annual Kemper Sports “Triple Crown” Tournament was hosted right here at Royal Melbourne Country Club. The top 8 amateur golfers

from Hawthorn Woods, The Glen Club and Royal Melbourne competed against each other in a 27-hole Ryder Cup format event. The Royal

Melbourne team, lead by Team Captain and Head Golf Professional, Tim Hval, consisted of Steve Feldman, Larry Smith, Brian Cornell, Dave

Schafer, Mike Hasler, Mike Greenberg, Ray Miller and Tom Barkley. The host club has never won the event in its 6 year history. The Royal

Melbourne team came within a half point of breaking the streak, losing to The Glen Club 13½ to 13. It was a hard-fought match right up to the last

point, and we’d like to congratulate all of our competitors for a job well done. Maybe next year?
