Employment Relations<br />

This module <strong>in</strong>troduces the learner to<br />

employment relations <strong>in</strong> South Africa<br />

with specific emphasis on policies that<br />

drive the tripartite relationship between<br />

employer, employee and the State.<br />

Module 7:<br />

<strong>Human</strong> Resources and Organisational<br />

Effectiveness<br />

This module deals with equity-related<br />

processes, policies and performance<br />

management with specific reference to<br />

performance appraisals.<br />

Module 8:<br />

Employee Ma<strong>in</strong>tenance<br />

A study route without a ceil<strong>in</strong>g<br />

After obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the Certificate <strong>in</strong> HRM,<br />

learners may further their studies <strong>in</strong> the<br />

field of HRM by cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g with the<br />

Diploma <strong>in</strong> HRM, NQF Level 5.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

The m<strong>in</strong>imum requirements for a<br />

prospective learner are:<br />

•• employed, but with little or no<br />

experience <strong>in</strong> HRM;<br />

•• m<strong>in</strong>imum Grade 12, NSC or<br />

equivalent with Mathematics and<br />

English (second-language level or its<br />

equivalent will be acceptable);<br />

•• fluency <strong>in</strong> English writ<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

speak<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

The learner is familiarised with the<br />

realities of HIV/AIDS <strong>in</strong> the workplace<br />

and its current and future impact<br />

on <strong>in</strong>dividuals, communities and<br />

bus<strong>in</strong>esses. Aspects of remuneration and<br />

compensation systems are also covered<br />

as a separate topic <strong>in</strong> this module.<br />

Integrative Project/Exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />

We believe that the ability to <strong>in</strong>tegrate<br />

theory, practice and reflection is best<br />

demonstrated through the completion of<br />

a workplace-based portfolio of evidence.<br />

As such, the f<strong>in</strong>al <strong>in</strong>tegrated exam<strong>in</strong>ation<br />

portfolio will br<strong>in</strong>g the various certificate<br />

outcomes together so that learners<br />

can demonstrate their operational<br />

competencies <strong>in</strong> the field of human<br />

<strong>resource</strong> management.<br />
