From the Publisher

Many years ago, a spiritual adviser told me

the most important lessons he ever learned

came from the mistakes he had made – that

those mistakes guided him to reach a greater

understanding of what he truly wanted from

his life experience. He went on to say he was

grateful for every mistake and whatever lessons

it had imparted.

With my clouded thinking, I had a hard time

grasping why someone would be grateful for

screwing up. Of course it is all a matter of

perception; I looked at it as screwing up while

he looked at it as guidance.

I hear from a lot of people how they tap

into their “spirit guides” to help them make

That has never really worked for me. It’s not

to say I don’t take time for prayer and meditation.

I just can’t seem to feel as if there is some

entity is guiding me to wherever or whatever I

am suppose to do next.

That notion seems to take away from my

concept of free will.

Instead, my guidance seems to come more

from my life experiences, choices and – most

of all – openness to feeling what may be the

better path to walk.

Last month I put on a large Expo in Columbus.

The numbers I had hoped for did not pan

out. This was very disappointing in that so

much work had been put into it.

Ken Russell – one of the volunteers and one

of the most giving and selfless people I know –

must have noticed my disappointment.

Ken made mention of something he had

noticed: A lady had brought her son, who

seemed to be afflicted with some kind of palsy

that caused uncontrollable tremors. One of the

body-workers at the Expo did some work with

the young man, and the mother said for the first

time in years he actually stopped shaking.

She was grateful and excited that she found

help for her son.

Perhaps, Ken offered, this Expo was for the

son – or perhaps even the mother. When Ken

related that story to me, it was all the guidance

I needed to get it out of my head that the Expo

was anything but a success. It helped me to

keep moving forward, understanding that the

only number that matters is one. And we are

all a part of that One.

May we all find our guidance to do our part

to make our world a better place.

Lakewood, OH – Cornucopia,

Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit

that provides vocational

training for people with

disabilities and the owner

of Nature’s Bin natural

foods market in Lakewood,

is continuing their work

on converting the former McDonald’s Restaurant on Sloane

Avenue into the Cornucopia Vocational Training Center and

commissary kitchen.

“As the Nature’s Bin retail business continued to grow we

found ourselves in a position to need more backroom and food

preparation space,” Duennes said. “Our current space is only

600 square feet, ultimately limiting the number of trainees who

can safely work in the area.” The new space (about 3,500

square feet) will act as a commissary, completing food prep

for the deli and bakery at Nature’s Bin as well as our growing

catering services.

The objective with

this expansion is to

increase our ability

to provide vocational

assessment and

work adjustment programs for people with disabilities. What

distinguishes Cornucopia’s programs from others is the realwork

learning environment. Trainees work side-by-side with

staff members facing the challenges and rewards of competitive

employment in a caring, supportive atmosphere.”

The new kitchen is state-of-the-art and will allow Nature’s Bin

to work with up to six trainees at a time while they develop job

skills to help them gain solid work experience and sought-after

food-prep skills.

Cornucopia is working to close out its capital campaign to raise

funds for this exciting project. To lend your support, visit www.

“I’m simply saying that there is

a way to be sane. I’m saying that

you can get rid of all this insanity

created by the past in you. Just

by being a simple witness of your

thought processes.

It is simply sitting silently, witnessing

the thoughts, passing before

you. Just witnessing, not interfering

not even judging, because the

moment you judge you have lost

the pure witness. The moment

you say “this is good, this is bad,”

you have already jumped onto the

thought process.

It takes a little time to create a gap

between the witness and the mind.

Once the gap is there, you are in

for a great suprise, that you are not

the mind, that you are the witness,

A watcher.

And this process of watching is

the very alchemy of real religion.

Because as you become more and

more deeply rooted in witnessing,

thoughts start disappearing. You

are, but the mind is utterly empty.

That’s the moment of enlightenment.

That is the moment that

you become for the first time an

unconditioned, sane, really free

A Time of Extremes

We’re living a time of extremes. It’s a time when we can

expect big things to happen—big shifts in the world and

big changes in our lives. And just to be clear, the extremes

I’m talking about don’t necessarily have to be bad things,

or even good things for that matter. It’s just that they’re

big things and they’re happening now.

There are layers of change in the world that’s emerging

around us. We no longer live in the isolated countries

that formed the policies of the 20 th Century. We no longer

live in isolated economies, isolated technologies, isolated

energy grids or isolated defence systems and communications.

And it’s these facts that have led to the certainty

of where we find ourselves in this very moment. It’s a fact

that we’re living with a new set of rules regarding the way

we think about our lives, our jobs, our careers, as well

as the realities of climate change, failing economies and

peak oil. While the reasons for such extremes are many

and varied, the fact is that we’re in a rare era of global

transition that affects every day of our lives.

Among the many uncertainties that come with such

an era there’s one thing that we can know with absolute

certainty: Our lives are changing with a speed that we’ve

never seen, in ways that we’re not prepared for, and faster

than we’ve been taught to deal with.

Pa g e 10

By Gregg Braden

A New Normal

The extremes in our world are creating a new ‘normal’

in our lives. The success of our transition into this new

normal hinges upon 1) our willingness to acknowledge

the shift and 2) how we learn adapt to it. Our globalized

culture of jobs, money, markets and resources means

Creating Resilience

In A Time of Extremes

Ju Ju ly ly • Au Au g u s s t t 2013

that it’s now impossible to separate the extremes in

the world from what they mean in our everyday lives.

The crisis of climate change is a perfect example

of this connection. The record-setting draught from

global weather patterns translates directly into the

higher prices we pay at our local market for food. The

extreme debt and failing economies on the other side

of the planet translate directly into higher costs at the

gas pump and higher ticket prices for the buses, trains

and taxis that take us to work each day. It’s because of

these extremes, and others, that business loans have

become scarce and that the interest we’re paid on our

savings and retirement is at record lows. The global

slowdown of industry translates directly into the loss

of jobs and benefits in our local communities.

We don’t need to go to Tibet, however,

to see the evidence of just

how connected our world really is.

I’m an optimist by nature. I see real reasons for

optimism in our lives. At the same time I’m also a realist.

I am under no illusions when it comes to the huge amount

of work that it’s taking to adapt to the new world that’s

emerging. The good news is that we don’t have to do it

We’re In This Together

Our world today is so deeply connected on so many

levels that it’s impossible for the transformation that’s

emerging in one part of the world not to show up in other

places as well. I’ve seen this first hand in my travels to

some of the most remote and isolated places remaining

in the world, like Tibet for example.

Following a number of previous pilgrimages into the

monasteries of the Tibetan plateau, in 2005 for the first

time I saw the eerie glow of cell phones illuminating the

dark recesses of centuries-old monasteries as they lit

up in the pockets under the robes of monks and nuns.

For those living in the monasteries, their former world of

isolation is now on a path of connectivity, and the change

that it carries is a promise that their traditions will never

be the same.

We don’t need to go to Tibet, however, to see the

evidence of just how connected our world really is. It’s

reflected everywhere, both in the ways the world works,

as well as the ways things no longer work. And as the

ways of the past slip away and the new ones emerge, the

clash of new against the old highlights yet an even greater

crisis; one that we all face yet we’ll probably never read

t h e Jo u r n e y

about in popular media. It’s a silent crisis that’s like the

big blue elephant in the room that everyone sees yet no

one acknowledges.

The technology to solve the challenges

we face has already been

discovered. The advanced principles

are already understood.

Arguably the greatest crisis in our time of extremes

that we face is a crisis in thinking. And our thinking is

the very key to the way we deal with the needs of the

emerging world. You and I are being tasked to do something

that’s never been done. We’re being challenged to

adopt a radical shift in the way we think of ourselves

and our relationship to the world, and to do so faster

than any generation in history has ever done before.

Our willingness to think differently about ourselves and

the world is key to thriving in our time of extremes.

We Have the solutions

The good news is that we already have the solutions to

the big problems that are converging in our lifetime. And

we know that we already have them! The technology to

solve the challenges we face has already been discovered.

The advanced principles are already understood. They

all exist in this moment, right here, right now, and at our

fingertips. All that stands between us and the new world

Shakti: Maiden, Mother,

Crone and Guide of My Soul

By Latia Phillips-Bey

MMy innocence was abruptly stolen thru violent rape when I was 6, by

a trusted family friend who was left to baby-sit me. I still remember

lying on the dirty, cold basement floor and shivering with tears rolling

down my cheeks. At 6 I did not have a lot of understanding about life;

however, I knew in my spirit that this was not right.

I can still feel him inside of me. I can also remember going into a trancelike

state where I silently called on the Fairy Godmother that would often

come to me in my dreams.

This experience would shape my future in a way that I never imagined. I

kept this secret hidden until I was in my late 30s. I was ashamed, humiliated

and embarrassed. Growing up I felt wounded inside and would often pray my

way through. At 14 it happened again – rape by a high school friend (who

is now in jail for a different rape).

I was ashamed, humiliated and embarrassed.

Growing up I felt wounded inside and would often

pray my way through. At 14 it happened again.

I became introverted. I slept a lot and my grades suffered. As a young

girl I remember reading the Bible a lot and walking to the corner church to

get baptized. I just wanted to be renewed. I wanted to feel clean again.

Throughout the years, my fairy Godmother would come to me again and

again in my dreams. She would tell me that I was beautiful and take me by

a body of water where she would bathe me.

Sleeping was my favorite time because I could not wait to dream. Years

later, after marriage, my mother-in-law introduced me to the path of The

Goddess. After years of study, I learned that She has many names: Isis to

Oshun, Yemaya, Kali, Oya, Mary to Shakti.

She has various paths; however all are fragments of Her!

I moved deeper into the philosophy of Yoga and found that Shakti was

the Goddess that had always come to be with me. She was the lady always

in my dreams; my spirit guide. She saved my life.

I fell in love with her the first time we met. Over the years, without judgment,

she has put up with my undoings including my ego, arrogance and at

times my negative thoughts and attitudes.

She is the epitome of patience and unconditional love. She teaches me

Pa g e 12

Ju ly • Au g u s t 2013

through Bhakti (devotion) and Tantra

that with selflessness my mission

is to spread her teachings – helping

others heal and gain self-mastery on

their divine journey.

Shakti makes love to me without

a physical touch. She shows me

myself through her magically divine

mirror, which is named after her eight

children: Yama, Niyama, Asana,

Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana,

Dhyana and Samadhi. Yoga is Shakti

(The Divine Mother), copulating with

Shiva (The Divine Father) to create

sacred life: Tantra.

I married Shakti by devoting

my life to her through Yoga. Today,

I have a yoga studio where anyone

that comes through the doors can

experience healing energy right

away. Visitors have described what

they feel as divine.

Shakti is here for all of us. She

hears our cries even when they are

silent. She nurtures us on her bosom

for those who need love and healing.

She brings freedom to our souls so

that we can evolve to our highest

power potential.

She is Yin on all levels and the

creator of the moon. She is that wild

woman inside. She is Mother (the full

moon), Maiden (the new moon) and

Crone (the dark moon) – helping us

to embrace all stages of life.

Shakti is my soulmate. I will be forever grateful and

devoted to Shakti, my spiritual guide, for saving my soul

and helping me to reclaim my life as a woman.

I fell in love with her the first time

we met. Over the years, without

judgment, she has put up with my

undoings including my ego, arrogance

and at times my negative

thoughts and attitudes.

Author Marianne Williamson said: “Your playing small

does not serve the world.” As a woman, you must be who

you are and claim your power within the divine.

As a man, you have to love women by loving your

mother first and as a child of the Most High, we must

become one with humanity by seeing the divine in everything

and everyone.

ur physical world is a place of experiential lessons

that allows the individual soul to grow, learn,

experience, practice and develop in new and

Oalternative ways.

Higher energetic realms

might not be able to provide

the unique experiences the

physical world provides for us

to learn from and grow. We live

in a magnificent school house

in which our souls can evolve,

grow and play in. Our world is

a shared experience with other

souls too.

There are souls all around

us that are at a higher energetic

vibration to guide, nurture

and love us; some of these

are our angels, spirit guides,

master teachers, spirit animals

and loved ones in spirit. Plus, we have our connection

to the Creator to inspire and encourage us. Our soul just

patiently waits for us to complete our journey of experience

so we can return back to the place of creation.

This is, after all, what we are here to remember and

work toward: returning home to the place of creation.

While each of us shares this journey of returning to

creation, it is an individual and sometimes seemingly

isolated trip. Yet, we have a strong set of allies to assist

in our journey back to spirit: our Spirit Guides.

Finding Your Spirit Guides:

Easy as ABG

As a main guide, the Gatekeeper Guide controls and monitors the

other spirit guides who wish to work with a person.

Ju ly • Au g u s t 2013

By Tammi Rager

The Warrior Guide’s role is to help a human being master fear and

weakness. If a battle in any area of a person’s life needs to be fought,

this guide will help. Contrary to the other spirit guides, this one can

lead a person into trouble and unnecessary battles.

Every person has several spirit guides available to

them. Sometimes they appear as Totem Animals.

Spirit Guides can be called upon for assistance when

it comes to any type of human condition or concern.

Generally, spirit guides have had at least one physical

incarnation and can relate to physical human experiences

a little better than angelic beings. Working with humans

allows Spirit Guides to continue their own evolution by

witnessing and assisting with the human experience while

not being in a human form.

There are several different types of spirit guides

available to us. These can be: Gatekeeper Guides,

Teacher Guides, Protector

Guides, Runner Guides, Helper

Guides, Warrior Guides, Joy

Guides and Ancestral Guides.

Knowing and being able to

ask the appropriate guide to

assist you can help ensure

your requests are being addressed

by the best spiritual

helper possible.

The Gatekeeper Guide –

sometimes called the Master

Teacher Guide or Doorkeeper

Guide – is with a human being

from birth to death through

a pre-birth agreement. This

guide inspires a person to help

others and to keep on track toward personal life goals

with pure and beneficial guidance. This guide stands constantly

at the energy gates of each person as protection

against the negativity of the universe. As a main guide,

the Gatekeeper Guide controls and monitors the other

spirit guides who wish to work with a person. At the same

time this spirit aids the individual to remain focused and

grounded when working with other spirit guides.

A Teacher Guide inspires a person only at brief intervals

during life. Guidance is given according to the person’s

need regarding growth and spiritual development. A

Teacher Guide may work with the Gatekeeper Guides of

many individuals, helping these people develop compassion,

moral sensitivity or other types of group skills.

The job of a Protector Guide is to protect a human

being whenever that person is in danger. Often the Protector

Guide will step forward when a person feels awkward,

lacks confidence or is fearful.

This spirit guide is usually a large spirit with great

strength and energy, and always works in harmony with

the Gatekeeper Guide.

The Runner Guide connects human beings to strongly

spiritual or deeply emotional people and items. This spirit

guide comes and goes quickly, and can appear in visions

or dreams. The appearance of this guide in dreams can be

human in form, but is also often disguised in the form of a

spirit animal.

The Helper Guide is present only in the direst moments.

This guide is often a perceived as a medicine man or shaman,

or is associated with a spiritual or medical profession.

A Helper Guide can offer assistance associated with great

stresses in a person’s life or with serious health problems.

Remember that loved ones have to

process into their spiritual

incarnation... and it can take some

time for these loving energies to

come forth to be worked with.

The Warrior Guide’s role is to help a human being master

fear and weakness. If a battle in any area of a person’s

life needs to be fought, this guide will help. Contrary to the

other spirit guides, this one can lead a person into trouble

and unnecessary battles. This guide must be followed with

prudence and careful thought to ascertain whether the

guidance is helpful.

The job of the Joy Guide is to bring joy and happiness

to a person at various times in their life, and to uplift the

spirits when they sag. Sometimes a Joy Guide will show

up to reveal rainbows, the first bloom of a flower or other

child-like things that bring a smile to the heart.

Ancestral Guides come from family members and loved

ones on the other side. They tend to connect themselves

to an individual to continue loving and supporting them.

Sometimes, there is a natural assumption that any loved

one who has crossed over will become one of these guides

– or a guardian angel – for a living person, and this can be

incorrect. Remember that loved ones have to process into

their spiritual incarnation (think of it as birth on the spirit

plane) and it can take some time for these loving energies

to come forth to be worked with.

It’s easy to work with any of these guides. Just follow

these simple guidelines:

Ask: Ask for assistance with an open, receptive and

humble heart.

Believe: Once you’ve asked for assistance, know that

it will arrive when it is most needed.

Be Grateful: Always remember to say thank you and

act as if your request has already been responded to.

It’s really that simple… if you can ask, believe and be grateful

then almost anything is possible from your spirit guides.

Finding Your Spiritual Teacher

By UB Hawthorn

chool teaches us how to

making a living but not

how to live. The innate

urge to discover our Struth usually arises in adulthood

after formal schooling

ends. At some point in the

journey of self-discovery,

a thought naturally arises:

We have teachers to help us

discover our hidden artistic

talents, to understand the

natural laws governing our

material world and to figure

out complex mathematical

theories, so why not take on

a teacher to help us work

through such cryptic questions

as “Who am I?” and

“What is my purpose?”

The path of truth can

lead us down a winding road

of confusion with ego traps

waiting along the way, bends

to disorient us and forks to

broaden our choices and trigger doubt.

Though it’s a natural desire to seek help when help is

needed, a lot of seekers get off track by reaching out to

a teacher too quickly, rather than taking the sage advice

to let the teacher find them. That haste is magnified when

not taking the time to properly assess the teacher.

A lot of seekers get off track by

reaching out to a teacher too

quickly, rather than taking the sage

advice to let the teacher find them.

It’s no wonder that people get jaded when it comes

to spiritual teachers; stories of pupils donating large

sums of money to charlatan gurus only to have their

“donations” frittered away on luxuries and stories of

emotional or sexual abuse – though in the minority – are

not uncommon.

Unlike getting duped by some random guy on the

street, getting screwed over by a spiritual teacher is of

a whole different dimension because that person was

chosen to guide us toward realization. By entrusting one

person to something so important we can set ourselves

up for disillusionment – perhaps we get taken advantage

of, or we may hear of others suffering.

Pa g e 26

However, there’s risk in

everything, and without being

open to finding a teacher,

we could miss the benefits

that come from having one.

Because enlightenment

is the process of uncovering

true knowledge, the teacher

must help keep the student

on track, keep them ever

focused on finding the truth,

The teacher must protect

them from ego traps.

As subtle layer after subtle

layer gets peeled away

from the ego, it becomes

more difficult to recognize the

hang-ups and traps that can

catch people. Through years

of experience and acute observation,

a true teacher can

pick out where a student is

stuck and can point out what

needs to be done to get free

– keeping students on track

rather than letting them get fixated on an end goal, continually

helping them uncover knowledge until they have

reached enlightenment.

Something similar can be said for a spiritual community.

Though a number of spiritual seekers can pool

their insights together to provide helpful wisdom, the

inherent danger is in receiving wrong knowledge that can

lead us astray. Where a spiritual community really shines,

however, is in being a source of support.

Community is considered so important to Buddhists

that the sangha (spiritual community) is one of three

jewels along with the Buddha and the Dharma (teachings).

Looking more closely at the three jewels, the Buddha

is considered the root teacher. He has passed in his bodily

form, as have many other great teachers throughout

history. So a teacher need not be alive to pass on their

teachings. A book can transmit teachings. What a book

cannot do is look back and talk to you. Video teachings

can talk to you, and in some ways are a step above

books, but videos also lack the interaction that many

find useful.

Unlike picking up a book or pulling up a video on

YouTube, finding a real teacher can take time.

“Most seekers don’t have the good karma of meeting

a real teacher at the beginning,” writes Karl Krumins

Ju ly • Au g u s t 2013

t h e Jo u r n e y

in Purification of Intent. He continues, “So what to do?

Without a real teacher the seeker must refine one’s own

discrimination through readings of biographies (not

necessarily Dharmic texts), or through visiting with acknowledged

Luckily, there are several living or recently deceased

masters for whom there’s much documentation, including

the Dalai Lama, Ramana Maharshi, Shirdi Sai Baba, G.I.

Gurdjieff and Thich Nhat Hanh.

Krumins, who has spent years living among the many

gurus of Tiruvannamalai, India, believes that most people

need a teacher, but he states that finding one may not

always be necessary. In his case he attracted himself to

three teachers and needed all three. “The likelihood of

ego co-opting and using the search and any awakening

event, big or small, for its own substantiation is almost

guaranteed,” he writes, reinforcing his need for a guru to

keep him on the right path.

Community is considered so important

to Buddhists that the sangha

(spiritual community) is one of

three jewels along with the Buddha

and the Dharma (teachings).

Most teachers are simply practitioners themselves,

but have enough knowledge and presence to deliver what

they have learned in a way that can benefit others.

How deeply most teachers can be of assistance or

whether their help may confuse and disorient is another

story, and one that’s up to the seeker to figure out and

work though.

Through the Internet it has never been easier to access

knowledge. Whether it’s a book, video lecture, audio

recording or a personal connection to a teacher, we have

so many options to choose from and so many ways to

gather knowledge.

It’s best not to be fixated on finding a teacher. In

our world of seven billion people, more spiritual seekers

exist than ever before. Yet with the tendency toward

materialism, the odds are against finding a true teacher.

And those true teachers are often swarmed by throngs

of followers, which limits access to them. Many other

teachers remain tucked away in caves and forests with

little chance of being found.

By keeping our eyes open to the path unveiled before

us, we are free to follow our intuition. And through

non-attachment to finding a guide, the right help is more

likely to appear along the way. It’s when we fixate on end

goals or needing to find a teacher to get us to that end

goal that we develop tunnel vision and lose sight of what

is most important: our own ability to uncover the truth

that lies within.

Planetary Pathways

By Eva Starr

July – As a Ram you probably never considered yourself

a creative soul but you are; it’s just that you move

so fast you rarely take time to smell the roses. July is

the month for you to show-off your creative side; after all

you are the leader of the zodiac. Now go show ‘em what

you’ve got, no need to butt horns with everyone along

the way – you’re the artist.

August – You’ve got a taste of creativity in your horns;

you’ve gone cosmos on us and that’s a good thing. What

does it feel like to have a view of the world from a higher

perspective? Keep on trusting your intuition, seek out

your inner guides and before long the whole world will

know who the Ram is (except you won’t be boasting

about it).

July – Getting tired of the type of company that’s

been hanging around the bullpen lately? Well, it’s high

time you raise the bar and show the rest of the ranch what

you’re made of. You do deserve the best; why settle for

hamburger when you can have Kobe? Put that sales order

out to the Universe; make the commitment to manifest

your dreams.

August – Still feeling a little trapped, you’re the only

one that keeps yourself prisoner in the bullpen. The gate’s

never been locked. You can break free anytime you want.

You needn’t do it alone; the Heavens are on your side this

month, you just need to ask then start moving.

July – You are the communicator of the zodiac and

that’s probably why it takes two of you. The Twins have

had a run of misfiring on the communication field, but

that’s about to change. Mercury the messenger of the

gods is going direct… Breathe, get back into gear, write

down your goals, start strategizing and watch your

dreams come alive.

August – Knock, knock, knocking on heaven’s door

could be your theme song this month…new opportunities

abound…don’t feel like you’re not qualified. Anything the

universe hands you will be supported. You’re never given

anything you can’t handle, good or bad…so trust, open

up those double Twin arms of yours and say yes!

Pa g e 28

July: New Moon in Cancer July 8, 3:14 a.m.; Full Moon in Aquarius July 22, 2:16 p.m.

August: New Moon in Gemini August 8, 11:56 a.m.; Full Moon in Capricorn August 23, 7:32 a.m.

Mercury is retrograde and goes direct: July 20, 2:22 p.m.

Ju ly • Au g u s t 2013

July – Finally the Crab will have some peace of mind;

all the Planets decided to line up at your door and throw

a party in honor of your birthday… Mercury’s gone direct

in your sign, Mars is still hanging around and yes,

the Santa Claus of the zodiac, Jupiter, has arrived in all

it’s glory. Just don’t over-indulge with Jupiter around.

August – OK Crab, it’s time to come out of your

shell… romance isn’t going to look for love inside that

hide-a-way of yours. You need to be out and about,

front and center, because passion is about to ignite.

Mars is still going strong in your sign… release any fears

you have about giving or receiving love, get under the

moonlight and pucker up.

JulyThere’s a Lioness showing up to take a walk

through your jungle and her name is Venus, so quit the

cowardly act, dig deep into that big, generous heart of

yours and show the world how inner confidence radiates

through you like a beacon from above. Self-esteem is

sky-rocketing; let that inner light shine on, Lion.

August – You definitely are king this month, with

the sun shining on you and everyone in that jungle of

yours. Mercury (in Leo) is the messenger of the gods

and it’s about to deliver a miracle healing to your

throne, so get ready and get grateful; surrender your

prayers to the heavens and act as if it’s already done,

because it is.

July – You’ve heard the expression random acts of

kindness? Let that be your mantra. Practice kindness

toward people, animals, the environment and most of all

yourself. Put away the BB gun and let the squirrels have

their way with your garden (they have to eat too)… Think

kind thoughts and watch that garden grow and grow.

August – Have you been thinking of taking a vacation

lately? You’re due some R&R and Lady Venus will

be tagging along until mid-month… you needn’t travel

overseas; a day at a spa or the golf course, boating, surfing

or just getting your hands dirty in the garden is just

what the doctor ordered.

t h e Jo u r n e y

JulyThere’s news coming to you on heaven’s

wings in the family arena; whether it’s a new arrival

or the reconciliation of an old one… open up your

arms and your heart. It’s time to clear the air. Be

honest about your feelings while having compassion

and understanding… forgive and forget, balance the

scales, rejoice.

August – It’s time to stop the Hem-and-Haw act

and stop blaming somebody else for moving your

cheese. We know you go back and forth like a yo-yo.

STOP. Get real this month, take a long hard look at

yourself, be honest about your feelings. You don’t need

to go to battle; confrontation paralyzes you. Just be

up front with what’s going on.

July – It’s time for the Scorpion to take a break,

which also means keeping the stinger in the back seat

for awhile. Summer’s here, take your intensity and let

it unwind; do something you’re passionate about: have

some fun, let loose, relax…go dig in the sand, you’re

likely to find buried treasure.

August – Start listening to yourself, your inner

compass will guide you to shore. Know that the planets

are aligned to watch over you; don’t listen to the dream

crushers of the world; you have passion and whatever

you’re passionate about you definitely can accomplish.

Give yourself a huge push forward and practice that

self-reliance thing.

July – Jupiter, your ruling planet, just landed in

Cancer – but that doesn’t mean you have to act like the

Crab and hold on tight with pincers. The Centaur is a

freedom-loving animal and that’s exactly what you need

to do to set yourself free: Let go, stop trying to solve every

dilemma yourself, surrender to the heavens and watch

the results pour in.

August – Family matters rise to the surface for the

Centaur; hold positive, loving feelings about yourself and

any family matters that seem to be holding your attention.

Have patience; healing is occurring. For each person you

have difficulty with, think of a reason to love him or her,

mentally send prayers and blessings to all. You hold the

light, let it shine.

JulyThe Goat has reason to smile: A problem that’s

been on your mind lately is coming to a solution. Sit back

and relax: the universe is very creative and has taken

care of things in the most ingenious manner. Whether

it’s work-related or a romance, rest assured happy days

are here again. So sing about it; because now you can

get back to work.

August –Come clean with your true feelings. The

Goat isn’t one to side-step an issue (that’s your opposite

the Crab)… the Goat is persevering. It’s time to be forthright

and honest with not only others but yourself. Get

out of the illusion… get in nature, go to the mountains

(where the Goat is at home); nature speaks to you – listen,

then speak.

July – It’s time to send loving energy to each person

in your family. What you send out will come back to you

multiplied; imagine a bottomless vase from the heavens,

filled with iridescent white light, being poured upon your

family members from above… see everyone filled with

the light, and send prayers and blessings. Then watch

the healing occur.

August- Are you feeling stuck, in a rut, irritated? Stop

and ask yourself: What are you denying yourself? Your

inner child knows when you’re not being true to yourself.

Stop pretending you’re OK with something when you’re

not… speak your mind or remain frustrated: The decision

is yours. It’s safe to be honest.

July – Clean up the pond, make sure the lights on

the fountains are working: A Mermaid is about to arise

from the sea…yes fish, romance is about to knock on

your shores. Be ready, no need to stay underwater; show

her around that lake of yours. And for the female fish,

not to worry: A sailor is about to dock his boat next to

your sandcastle.

August – All that love did the Fish some good; now

it’s time to shake a tail and boogie down: Play music,

listen to your favorite singing bass, or sing a chorus of

“We’ve got the spirit, you’ve got to hear it under the

sea”… pay particular attention to any song you hear

more than once. Surround yourself with music this

month, sail on Fish.
