Yarn needle<br />
Small amount of fiberfill<br />
2 small black beads<br />
1’ of 1/4” ribbon<br />
Black embroidery floss<br />
12” fishing line<br />

To work sc dec (over 2 sts): Insert hook in first indicated<br />
stitch and pull up a loop, insert hook in next indicated st and<br />
pull up a loop; yo and pull through all 3 remaining loops on<br />

Muzzle <br />
Round 1: Work the same as round 1 of the body. (6 sc) <br />
Rounds 2-3: Sc in each sc around. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving a<br />
12” yarn tail for sewing. Sew muzzle around round 3 to the<br />
lower “face” side of the head.<br />
Ears (make 2) <br />
Ch 2.<br />

Row 1: Work 4 sc in the 2nd ch from hook; ch 1, turn. (4 sc) <br />

Row 2: Sc in each sc across. (4 sc) Fasten off, leaving a 12”<br />
yarn tail for sewing. Sew each ear to the head as in the photo.<br />

Arms (make 2) <br />
Rounds 1-2: Work as for rounds 1-2 of the body. (12 sc at the<br />
end of round 2)<br />

Rounds 3-7: Sc in each sc around. (12 sc) Fasten off, leaving<br />
a 12’ yarn tail for sewing. Stuff arm. Sew arm to body around<br />
round 7 with yarn tail.<br />

Legs (make 2) <br />
Rounds 1-3: Work as for rounds 1-3 of the body. (18 sc at the<br />
end of round 3)<br />

Round 4: Working in the back loop only, sc in each of the<br />
next 6 sc, (sc dec over the next 2 sc) 3 times to form the “toes”,<br />
sc in each of the last 6 sc. (15 sts)<br />

Rounds 5-8: Sc in each sc around. (15 sc) Fasten off, leaving<br />
a 12” yarn tail for sewing. Stuff leg with fiberfill. Sew to body<br />
around round 8 with the yarn tail (“toes” pointing upward.) <br />
Sew beads to either side of the upper muzzle for eyes. With<br />
black floss, embroider a small inverted triangle on the upper<br />
muzzle for nose, then embroider an inverted “Y” below the triangle<br />
for mouth. Tie ribbon around neck with a bow in the<br />
front. Sew a loop of fishing line to the top of the head to hang.<br />

<strong>Crochet</strong>er’s <strong>Christmas</strong><br />
Ornament<br />
Materials:<br />
One ounce worsted weight <strong>Christmas</strong> yarn<br />
<strong>Crochet</strong> hook size D<br />
1 1/2” styrofoam ball<br />
Tacky glue<br />
Straight pins<br />
Ribbon<br />
Wind yarn around the styrofoam ball until completely covered.<br />
(It should resemble a ball of yarn.) Secure with a straight<br />
pin. Measure an additional 3 yards of yarn from the spot<br />
where the yarn is pinned to the ball. Cut yarn.<br />

glue in place. Randomly insert a few straight pins through the<br />
yarn-covered styrofoam ball to secure yarn to ball. Glue hook<br />
in place on the ball. Allow glue to dry. Tie ribbon bow around<br />
hook. Thread yarn needle with fishing line. Insert needle<br />
through the styrofoam ball and pull through fishing line. Tie<br />
fishing line to form a hanging loop. Glue bow in place.<br />

Stuffed Gingerbread Man<br />
This gingerbread man can be used as an ornament or<br />
fridgie, or add a few to a wreath! I'm sewing several together<br />
at the hands to make a garland for my kitchen window.<br />
You can also make a larger one for a stuffed toy by using<br />
a larger hook.<br />

Variation...to make stuffed star ornament without photo, just<br />
make 2 back pieces; join and stuff.<br />
Materials:<br />
Small amount of worsted weight yarn (acrylic or cotton)<br />
<strong>Crochet</strong> hook size D<br />
2” lucite ring<br />
Wallet-size photo<br />
Glue<br />
Fiber fill<br />
<br />
Gauge: Rounds 1-2 of the back piece = about 2”<br />

Preparation <br />
Center 2” ring over the photo so that it looks the way you want<br />
it when framed. Trace around the outside of the 2” ring onto<br />
the centered photo, then cut the photo along the traced circle.<br />
Laminate photo, it desired.<br />
Back <br />
Ch 5; join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring.<br />

Finishing <br />
Glue the photo to the back of the crochet-covered ring of the<br />
front piece, making sure the top of the photo aligns with one<br />
of the points of the star, so the photo will be straight when<br />
hung. Allow glue to dry. With wrong sides together, match the<br />
points of the stars of the front and back pieces. Join yarn with<br />
a sl st through any matching stitch of both pieces; (ch 1, sl st<br />
in the next st) three-quarters of the way around, working (ch<br />
1, sl st) twice in the center trc of the each point of the star.<br />
Stuff with fiberfill, pushing the fiberfill into the corners of the<br />
star. Continue crocheting closed. Fasten off. Join yarn with a<br />
sl st in the ch-1 sp at the top point of the star; ch 10, sl st in the<br />
same ch-1 sp for hanging loop. Fasten off. Weave in ends.<br />
Round 4: (Sc in the next hdc, hdc in the next dc, dc in the<br />
next trc, 5 trc in the next trc, dc in the next trc, hdc in the next<br />

around the pole ring, starting at the left of the eye hook and<br />

Finishing: Cut roses from stem, being careful not to untwist<br />
rose. Glue roses evenly around wreath, leaving a 1/2” space<br />
for the bow in front of the eye hook. Weave the gold ribbon or<br />
pearls serpentine-style through the roses, tacking with glue<br />
as needed. Tie a small bow with the gold ribbon or pearls and<br />
glue to the open space in front of the eye hook. Tie a length of<br />
the gold ribbon or pearls to the eye hook to hang.<br />
