Do you want to work in the rapidly expanding field of
electrical engineering? As technology advances, the role
of electricians becomes even more important – especially
within a high-tech society. To be one of tomorrow’s
electricians, you need specialist knowledge and skills to
meet the demands of this field.
The aim of the programme is to provide you with the
skills and attitudes to work safely and professionally
in the area of electrical engineering. The programme
covering Level 3 is designed to allow you to progress
through your career as an electrical apprentice.
On graduating at Level 3, and combined with work
experience, you’ll be work-ready and will have all the
necessary skills to launch your career as an apprentice
electrician.
Level 2 Supply Strand
Take charge of your career
If you enjoy scaling great heights, while keeping within
the safety regulations, and like the idea of working with
high-voltage equipment, then the National Certificate in
Electricity Supply will take charge of your career.
You’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge
to install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and
electrical equipment to unit standards in power stations,
substations and other sites in the electricity supply
industry.
The aim of the programme is to provide you with the
skills and attitudes to work safely and professionally in
the area of electrical fitting. On graduating you’ll be ready
for a career as an electrical fitter or you can staircase into
a higher level qualification.

• Regulation for NZ Supply Industry
• Regulation of NZ Supply Industry and Networks
• Selection and care of equipment
• Manufacturing of equipment.
Further Training or Study
Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4)
Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Level 3)
Level 3 Strand and Level 2 Supply Strand.
Career Opportunities
Apprenticeships in the electrical trade. Graduates who
complete appropriate work experience are eligible to apply
for registration as an electrician. Apprentice electrical fitter
in the power supply industry.
