Do you want to work in the rapidly expanding field <strong>of</strong><br />

electrical engineering? As technology advances, the role<br />

<strong>of</strong> electricians becomes even more important – especially<br />

within a high-tech society. To be one <strong>of</strong> tomorrow’s<br />

electricians, you need specialist knowledge and skills to<br />

meet the demands <strong>of</strong> this field.<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> the programme is to provide you with the<br />

skills and attitudes to work safely and pr<strong>of</strong>essionally<br />

in the area <strong>of</strong> electrical engineering. The programme<br />

covering Level 3 is designed to allow you to progress<br />

through your career as an electrical apprentice.<br />

On graduating at Level 3, and combined with work<br />

experience, you’ll be work-ready and will have all the<br />

necessary skills to launch your career as an apprentice<br />

electrician.<br />

Level 2 Supply Strand<br />

Take charge <strong>of</strong> your career<br />

If you enjoy scaling great heights, while keeping within<br />

the safety regulations, and like the idea <strong>of</strong> working with<br />

high-voltage equipment, then the National Certificate in<br />

Electricity Supply will take charge <strong>of</strong> your career.<br />

You’ll be equipped with the skills and knowledge<br />

to install, maintain and repair electrical wiring and<br />

electrical equipment to unit standards in power stations,<br />

substations and other sites in the electricity supply<br />

industry.<br />

The aim <strong>of</strong> the programme is to provide you with the<br />

skills and attitudes to work safely and pr<strong>of</strong>essionally in<br />

the area <strong>of</strong> electrical fitting. On graduating you’ll be ready<br />

for a career as an electrical fitter or you can staircase into<br />

a higher level qualification.<br />

• Wiring and Regulations<br />

• Electrical supply<br />

• Protection and Machines.<br />

Level 2 Supply Strand<br />

• Regulation for NZ Supply Industry<br />

• Regulation <strong>of</strong> NZ Supply Industry and Networks<br />

• Selection and care <strong>of</strong> equipment<br />

• Manufacturing <strong>of</strong> equipment.<br />

Further Training or Study<br />

Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Level 4)<br />

Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Level 3)<br />

Level 3 Strand and Level 2 Supply Strand.<br />

Career Opportunities<br />

Apprenticeships in the electrical trade. Graduates who<br />

complete appropriate work experience are eligible to apply<br />

for registration as an electrician. Apprentice electrical fitter<br />

in the power supply industry.<br />
