system description The

system description The Airbase Perimeter Security System provides a fully integrated, flexible security solution The Harris Airbase Perimeter Security System provides the ability to: l Detect and isolate unusual or intrusive activities l Coordinate actions of commanders, analysts, and security teams through voice, data, and video communication of a common operational picture (COP) l Capture data and video for after-action analysis The system includes four modular and expandable interconnected building blocks: l Security force command shelter equipment l Sensor and video systems l Vehicular and dismounted patrol radio equipment l Long-range radar and camera surveillance capability As described earlier, the equipment is arranged into Early Entry and Long-Range Surveillance kits which build security capability as resources can be brought onto the airfield. The system’s modular design allows the security team to trade off requirements for security, available transport capacity, manpower, and other logistics concerns such as available power. The Early Entry equipment relies primarily on battery power. As base facilities are installed or repaired, the Long-Range Surveillance equipment can be deployed. The Long-Range Surveillance equipment is easily integrated into the base security picture. In fact, the long-range pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ) cameras can directly replace the Miniature Unattended Ground Imagers in the Early Entry kit, with the Tactical Video Gateway and cueing Mini-Sensors left in place. The same Access Points that are used at the command center to receive the video from the Early Entry surveillance nodes can also receive video from the PTZ cameras. It is highly recommended that the capability for a portable tactical video solution be retained so that security forces can respond at a moment’s notice to specific threat alerts or to cover areas on base that are obscured from the fixed, long-range PTZ cameras. This implementation would require adding Access Points and Tactical Video Gateways to the standard configuration.
