low-risk solution The Airbase Perimeter Security System equipment is ready for delivery The complete, integrated system includes both an Early Entry Kit and Long-Range Surveillance Kit. The Early Entry Kit is designed specifically for minimal footprint and ease of use for forces establishing initial base security. It consists of sufficient equipment sets and software to: l Equip one security command post with the radios, computers, displays, and networking equipment to monitor the airbase and approaches, as well as provide command and control of the deployed security forces l Equip four security vehicles with high-bandwidth RF-7800M radios and twelve dismounted security staff with the RF- 7800S radios necessary to communicate with the vehicles. Each vehicle has an available helmet-mounted camera and Harris Tactical Video Processor for streaming video back to the command post l Establish four MicroTerrain Observation surveillance nodes and cueing sensors for unmanned observation of key areas The Long-Range Surveillance Kit adds the following components to provide long-term security and surveillance capabilities: l One ground-based radar for detecting approaching personnel and vehicles l Four long-range, dual EO/IR, pan/tilt/zoom cameras for viewing potential threats (replacing or in addition to the MicroTerrain surveillance nodes) l Additional command and control software and displays for the radar and cameras Optional capabilities that can be seamlessly added to the system include: l Additional sensors and video nodes l Additional radios to equip more vehicles and security force personnel l Fence, door, window, and similar intrusion sensors l Additional helmet-mounted cameras for dismounted security force personnel, enabling video of the threat encounter to be streamed to the security officer on duty This organization is very flexible, and additional equipment can be provided with either kit, based on the mission needs of the customer. Typically the equipment can be delivered within six months, depending on the amount of customization required. One customer, for example, needed a comprehensive airbase security solution that included monitoring secure areas for weapons storage, fence monitoring, and even a field-deployable equipment set for securing the perimeter around a downed aircraft. In addition to the long-range cameras, Harris integrated rugged industrial fence sensors, as well as door, window, and pressure mat sensors into the system and common operational picture display. This implementation provided a single wireless command and control system for protecting the base against threat activities, rather than a separate system for each piece of the security solution. This custom system was delivered in six months.
