SPORTS ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS GARFIELD WESTON MERIT SCHOLARSHIP FOR COLLEGES UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA Entrance Scholarships PROSPERA CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP BC ASSOCIATION OF HEALTH-CARE AUXILIARIES VANCOUVER COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN SCHOLARSHIP male and (1) $2,000 award for 1 female to be used in a BC postsecondary institution (25)college tuition waivers, renewable for 1-2 more years; (1) $8,000 stipend renewable for 1-2 more years; and access to summer program funding, up to $3,500 $16,000 - $26,000 renewable scholarship over four years several $1,000 (3) $1,500 and (1) $1,000 from a BC secondary school who is involved in either their community or school sports. Must be a registered Grade 12 BC student, be a resident of BC for the last 12 months, be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant, show evidence of high athletic ability and performance, maintain a C+ average, demonstrate leadership skills and be active in your school and community. Available only for specified colleges (BCIT, Douglas College, Langara, VCC, Northern Lights College, Northwest Community College, Okanagan College, Selkirk College as well as various colleges throughout Canada). Minimum 75% average, entering a minimum 2-year college program (university transfer programs are not eligible); passionate about his/her field of study; demonstrated caring about his/her neighbourhood and community; and interested in making a difference in society. Criteria vary by Scholarship. Only 1 application needed for all Entrance Scholarships. Min. 85% average or higher on grade 12 courses required for admission to the faculty/program applied for. See website for various scholarships. Admission average between 87% to 89.99%. Must be a Prospera Credit Union member in good standing for one year prior to applying. Awarded to students planning to pursue post-secondary education and are based on academic achievement, community involvement and financial need. Low-Top: under 18 years old, academic achievement, financial need and community involvement High-Top: over 18 years old, community involvement, academic achievement and financial need Cross-Trainer: pursuing a post-secondary education in the field of athletics, fine arts, or culture. McDonald Scholarship (3) $5,000 and (55) $2,000 Several Public recognition and honoured at a special ceremony during Youth Week Ranging from $250 - $2,000 (4) $2,000 requirements for the program of your choice (Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Marketing & Merchandising for Fashion, and 3D Modeling Animation Art & Design). Standing Tall Awards – given to selected individuals who have overcome significant life challenges and achieved personal growth; Citizenship Awards - given to selected individuals who have worked diligently to achieve a good balance between school and personal activities, and in turn made a positive impact in their communities. To any successful applicant who, for 3 or more years, has played with a team affiliated with BCSA and who is currently participating in some capacity in soccer (player, referee, coach or administrator). Awarded to Grade 12 students proceeding to any university in the province or other post-secondary institution approved by the Scholarship Selection committee. Must have proficiency in soccer as indicated by their play and/or have shown worthwhile contributions to the sport, as judged by the Scholarship Committee, in the area of refereeing, coaching or club or district administration. Must have a C+ average and demonstrated good citizenship, character and leadership. Must be nominated in one of five categories: creative contributions, personal achievement, youth entrepreneurial initiative, community spirit or team spirit. Must be between 13 and 18 years, resident of Surrey, willing to attend and partake in the Youth Recognition Awards Ceremony, willing to have their name and/or photo released to the media and provide at least one support letter. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or have permanent resident status.
