UBC International Leader of Tomorrow Award UBC International Student Humanitarian Award $14,000 - $34,000 depending on need Up to $34,000 depending on need and course of study undertaken an application form or nomination. UBC faculties and departments make recommendations and the University contacts the recipients By nomination only. To be eligible, you must be a non- Canadian, studying on a study permit, and enrolling in a UBC undergraduate program. In addition, you must demonstrate an exceptional level of scholastic achievement, extracurricular achievement, and leadership ability. Finally, you must also demonstrate that you would not be able to attend UBC without receiving the award. By nomination only. Recognizes outstanding international students from impoverished or war-torn areas. Recipients are students who have achieved academic excellence under difficult circumstances and would be unable to pursue postsecondary education without financial assistance. To be eligible, you must be an international student entering university directly from secondary school and you must be eligible to study in Canada on a Canadian study permit. You must also meet UBC’s competitive admission requirements. UBC Entrance Bursaries (62) up to $4,350 By nomination only. Awarded on the basis of financial need but do not have to receive a student loan. UBC Major Entrance Scholarships BCGEU STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS CMOLIK FOUNDATION POST-SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIP $7,500 one time awards up to $10,000 renewable awards $2,000 for full-time and $1,000 for parttime students for a total of $36,000 By nomination only. Separate application for each campus (Vancouver and Okanagan). Schools are allowed to nominate the top 2% of their graduating class; nominated students must excel academically and have demonstrated leadership in one of the following areas: artistic endeavours, original intellectual pursuits, community service, athletics or school activities. Applicant must be registering in a post secondary program at a BC educational institution in 2009 and are students who are BCGEU members or relatives of members or staff. For students with special needs who have an IEP (Individual Education Plan) you have the choice of submitting your essay as per the criteria or alternatively, you can submit in DVD format, video (i.e. acting/skit) or audio (reading). It must be at least 15 minutes in length. (5) Up to $30,000 Only available to students studying in the Surrey School District. Must have demonstrated amongst other attributes, good work ethic and tenacity in achieving their goals. UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA BACHELOR OF COMMERCE BLACK PRESS BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP KWANTLEN POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY Leaders of Tomorrow Entrance Awards some setback or disadvantage in doing so. Candidates must be in good academic standing, have applied and/or be enrolled in or accepted to a post-secondary institution, trade institute or college. $5,000 Applying to the University of Victoria Faculty of Business program and have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Up to three nominees allowed per school. Must be entering Kwantlen for the first time, have a minimum average of 80% based on the student’s best four provincially examinable Grade 12 courses (in subjects where provincial exams are mandatory); and demonstrate community involvement, leadership and volunteerism. Same as the above two awards except can enrol in any Kwantlen program and be in full time studies. Fall 2009 Entrance Awards Criteria varies depending on the award. Nomination is NOT required. Mid-March deadline i) Marketing Management Entrance Scholarship (2) $3,000 Enrolling in the Marketing Management Diploma program and based on academic achievement. ii) Kwantlen Student Association Entrance Award UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA LEADERSHIP AWARD $1,000 Actively involved in community service. Preference will be given to a student enrolling full-time in Community and Health Studies (Nursing, Health Unit Coordinator, Special Education Assistant and Home Support/Resident Care Attendant). Other fields of study may also be considered.. (100) $1,000-$20,000 Must be entering an undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta in September, possess exceptional leadership qualities as demonstrated by community service and involvement and have an award average of 80% or higher based on Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 final marks.
