The Commonwealth of Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure 1000 Washington St., 7th Floor Boston, Massachusetts 02118 STATE EXAMINERS OF PLUMBERS AND GAS FITTERS IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR CANDIDATES WITH DOCUMENTED MEDICAL CONDITIONS Qualified applicants for examination who are physically impaired or challenged by medical conditions documented by a Doctor/Physician may receive upon written request other Board authorized dispensation or distinct services. The written request of the applicant’s medical information regarding the impairment, (physical or learning) shall be filed with the Board before an application for examination is submitted. CHECKLIST FOR APPLICANTS JOURNEYMAN GAS FITTERS APPLICANTS The following must accompany your application for examination: Proof of the two years practical experience shown on statement of experience form. PHOTOSTATS OF THESE STATEMENTS ARE UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Proof of 150 hours of gas fitting theory must be submitted on the enclosed school verification form. Only the original as signed by the approopriate individual(s) will be accepted. MASTER GAS FITTERS APPLICANTS Applicants shall have held a Journeyman License for at least one year from date of issue. Applicants must submit proof of having completed 50 clock hours of gas fitting theory in a master Gas Fitter educational program, culminating in a school or instructor designed examination to ensure competency. This program must meet the Board administered requirements of 248 CMR 11.00. However, applicants who have completed the 110 hour tier three of the three tier Gas Fitter Educational Program as approved by the Board and described in 248 CMR 11.06 shall be exempt from having to obtain additional education. LP GAS INSTALLER The following must accompany your application for examination: Proof of the two years practical experience shown on statement of experience form. PHOTOSTATS OF THESE STATEMENTS ARE UNACCEPTABLE AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Proof of 220 hours of LP gas installer theory must be submitted on the enclosed school verification form. Only the original assigned by the appropriate individual(s) will be accepted. VETERAN’S STATUS Must submit a clear legible copy of DD214. Status determined by legislation. OUT OF STATE OR FOREIGN APPLICANTS The Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters does not have reciprocity with any other state. The board requires at least three years of licensure in that state or country, attested to by affidavits from licensing authorities, showing actual date of issue and fact that the licensee is in good standing. Regardless if applicant was licensed as Master, Board only admits to Journeyman examination. NOTE It is the responsibility of the applicants to make certain that all the instructions as outlined in all informational notices are followed. Applications must be received in this office by closing date as show on the Bulletin of Information. Postmarks wil not meet this requirement. National Assessment will notify only those candidates who meet Board requirements.
