Secondary Graduation In 2010, 99% of Year 12 students met the Curriculum Council requirements for Secondary Graduation. The school continues to maintain excellent graduation rates as indicated in the 2008-2010 data. LEARNING AREAS - ENGLISH Learning from authors National Assessment Program in Literacy The National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) tests are undertaken by Year 9 students in all Australian States and Territories in May each year. The data for literacy (shown below) are derived from the 2010 NAPLAN results. The tables show the proportion of students within each of the 10 proficiency bands used to show students’ performance in NAPLAN. Achievement at Band 6 represents the National Minimum Standard (NMS). The NMS is a nationally agreed standard below which a student has not demonstrated the basic skills expected of students at that year level. Reading Number of students with a Test Score School Year 9 Reading 2009 2010 Total Students 301 323 In each of the Literacy tests in 2010 (Reading, Writing, Spelling and Punctuation and Grammar) 97 per cent or more of Rossmoyne Senior High School students achieved at or above the National Minimum standard. The school results compared very favourably against like schools and State results. Improvements are gained by identifying gaps in reading and writing achievement.
