She won both rounds and the average at Cheyenne, WY, won second at Deadwood, SD and eleventh at Odgen, UT en route to earnings of $19,450 last weekend. This weekend she won second at Phillipsburg, KS and eleventh at Great Falls, MT. To say the least, she is showing no signs of letting down as we get into the last two months of the season. BRR: What was it that let Latte (Perculatin) adapt to Cheyenne so well? Walker: Latte really loved Cheyenne. Several of the horses were having problems, they seemed to be getting a little strung out; but he stayed collected and close. BRR: What are you doing with your buckle from Cheyenne? Walker: Byron (her husband) was runner-up 6 times (in steer wrestling), he never won it. I told him he could wear the buckle! The awards were amazing, beautiful spurs, saddle, boot jack and of course the buckle. BRR: What are your plans rodeo-wise now that you are for sure in the NFR? Walker: My plans are to keep going. Latte is doing great and seems to love the road. I have a driver and Byron so I’m not tired at all. I hope to be home sometime in September. I am really enjoying being out here and seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Walker: Dreams can come true and if I can help one person get through a tragedy in their life, I have won. As of this writing, the World Standings show Mary Walker stands #4 with earnings of $84,149 and growing! 02 ches. m.
