201306 Luo Jing Huo Yuanzi He Qing Ling Yun He Peimin (College of Fisheries and Life Science, Shanghai Ocean University, Shanghai 201306) ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` ` Abstract The water quality of two enclosed sea areas at Fengxian Bihaijinsha and Jinshan City Beach in Shanghai has been analysed and evaluated with eutrophication indices (E) and organic pollutant indices (A) through one-year round monitoring. The results showed that, on the whole, the water quality at Fengxian Bihaijinsha was at Class or of marine water standard, and that at Jinshan City Beach was at Class or . No significant difference was observed in changes of physical variables (water temperature, dissolved oxygen) between those two sea areas (P > 0.05), and chemical variables (activated silicate, permanganate value, dissolved inorganic nitrogen, dissolved inorganic phosphorus) were, however, higher at Fengxian Bihaijinsha than that at Jinshan City Beach (P < 0.05). There were eight months when eutrophication indices E were greater at Fengxian Bihaijinsha than at Jinshan City Beach. In addition, through a comparison of organic pollutant indices A and permanganate values between those two sea areas, the level of organic pollution at Fengxian Bihaijinsha was found higher.
