The selection of Zo parameter can affect the speed of parameter adaptation. Thus, a small value of Zo increases the speed of adaptation, but gives a more oscillatory response. On the other hand, a large value of Zo results in a slow parameter adaptation, but gives a more robust performance. The effect of Z0 on the controller's response is illustrated in Figures 9a, b, c. Apparently, the sensitivity of the controller to the selected values of Zo and is not significant. However, a small value of Zo seems to increase the responsiveness of the system. The time variation of the estimated model parameters in Eqs. (48) and (49) for L = 2 and Zo = is shown in Figures 10 and 11. It is interesting to note that the parameters associated with the monomer-temperature discrete model exhibit an almost continuous change during polymerization.
