If I want to talk about anything they listen and help… I wish I could have come to foster care earlier.” Courtney, TACTyoung person The Adolescent and Children’s Trust (TACT) is the UK’s largest charity provider of fostering and adoption services. Working in partnership with local authorities from our offices across England, Wales and Scotland, we are dedicated to providing creative, effective and outcomefocused services. TACT is a charity forchildrenandyoungpeoplein care: everything we do is to make life better for them. We ensure that the children placed with TACT foster carers or adoptive families prosper in loving, well supported environments. We also campaign and raise awareness of issues faced by the 60,000 childrenin care across the UK. TACT is a charity beyond profit: our surplus income and our fundraising are ploughed back into service provision. This enables us to provide additional training, services, support and activities to our employees, carers andyoungpeople. These include national events such as our youngpeople’s participation weekend, our carer’s awards and our staff away day. We also have specific groups involving employees, carers andyoungpeople discussing and reviewing the way we do things such as our ‘Children’s Champions’ group’ and our ‘Skills 4 Life’ programme. TACT is a voice forchildrenin care: children are too often stigmatised for going into care; this can lead to their discrimination and disadvantage. At TACT, we campaign on behalf of childrenin care and on the edge of care. We influence politicians and the media to do everything possible to ensure that looked after children achieve their aspirations.
