This section describes the baseline scenario for MSI Playback management using MMFU
command sequences.
4.5.4.2.2.1 MMFU Command Sequences
The baseline management of the MSI packet store is described in the SOCD [AD-03]. It
involves the commanding of the MMFU for MSI data recording and playback activities as
summarised hereafter.
For recording, two exclusive states will be used in rotation:
○ Record-NRT to be used for the recording of all MSI acquisition segments prioritised for
NRT playback;
○ Record-Nominal to be used for the recording of all other MSI acquisition segments
which are not planned for RT downlink to a core station and hence shall be buffered
on-board;
For playback, two distinct commands will be used to trigger the start of the downlink in two
alternative modes. Both will be explicitly suspended at will by way of a common Playback-
Stop command.
○ Playback-Regular-With-Memory-Freed to be used to trigger the playback of the MSI
packet store while sustaining the recording, and ensuring that the data which was
recorded with the NRT option is downlinked before any other data. At playback stop
playback stop, the data downlinked in this session will not be retained for further
playbacks;
○ Playback-RT-With-Memory-Freed to be used to trigger an MSI real-time downlink
without recording the data in parallel;
Based on the above, Figure 4-19 depicts a typical scenario including RT, NRT and nominal
MSI acquisitions that will translate the HLOP definitions using the above MMFU recording and
playback commands.
