two images for the refinement of the registration between VNIR and SWIR focal<br />

planes. The VNIR-SWIR registration is optional and applicability will be decided at<br />

commissioning.<br />

o Tie Points Filtering for VNIR-SWIR Registration (performed within the GPP by the<br />

Geo_S2 IAS). This processing step performs a filtering of the tie points over several<br />

areas (sub-scenes) and a given number of trusty tie points are required for each subscene.<br />

The VNIR-SWIR registration processing is optional and applicability will be<br />

decided at commissioning.<br />

o Spatiotriangulation for VNIR-SWIR Registration (performed within the GPP by the<br />

Geo_S2 IAS). This processing step refines the viewing model using the initialized<br />

viewing model and the set of ground control points from previous steps. The output of<br />

this step is a refined viewing model ensuring the registration between VNIR and SWIR<br />

focal planes. The VNIR-SWIR registration processing is optional and applicability will<br />

be decided at commissioning.<br />

o Level-1B Compression (performed within the GPP by the JP2KCompression IAS).<br />

This processing step compresses Level-1B imagery using JPEG2000 algorithm.<br />

Level-1C Processing<br />

o Level-1C Tiles Association (performed within the GPP by the Tiling_S2 module of<br />

the Resample_S2 IAS). This module selects pre-defined tiles which intersect the<br />

image footprint.<br />

o Level-1C Resampling Grid Computation (performed within the GPP by Phases 1 to<br />

7 of the Resample_S2 IAS). This processing step calculates the resampling grids,<br />

linking the image in native geometry to the target geometry (ortho-image).<br />

o Resampling on Level-1C Geometry (performed within the GPP by Phase 8 of the<br />

Resample_S2 IAS). This processing step resamples each spectral band in the<br />

geometry of the ortho-image using the resampling grids and an interpolation filter. In<br />

addition, it calculates the TOA reflectances.<br />

o Masks Computation (performed within the GPP by the Mask_S2 IAS). This step<br />

generates the cloud and land/water masks at Level-1C geometry.<br />

o Level-1C Compression (performed within the GPP by the JP2KCompression IAS).<br />

This processing step compresses Level-1C imagery using JPEG2000 algorithm and a<br />

GML geographic imagery encoded header. Level-1C data is output at the term of this<br />

step.<br />
