GSC Sentinel-2 PDGS OCD
Issue 1 Revision 2 (draft) - 25.07.2010
GMES-GSEG-EOPG-TN-09-0008
page 188 of 350
Largely based on the G-POD CAT-1 experience heritage summarised in sections 4.3.5.4 and
4.8.1.2, the following paragraphs describe the characteristics of the service in a stepwise
approach as applicable to the service implementation of each option:
○ The characteristics of the initial processor integration service, as a prerequisite for
enabling the required hosted processing for both hosted-processing models;
○ The characteristics of the on-demand processing scenario option, either to be
sustained as final operation scenario or carried-out as a preliminary step towards the
sustained processing scenario;
○ The characteristics of the systematic hosted-processing scenario
4.10.2.2.2.1 Processor Integration
This service offering corresponds to the initial step of the collaboration enabling the third-party
provided processor to be remotely operated within the PDGS environment.
It provisions for:
○ The publishing and maintenance of documented integration guidelines (similar to [RD-
37]) with relevant technical documentation such as a well-defined Interface Control
Document between the user-processor and the PDGS host environment;
○ The provision of a remotely accessible test-bedding environment for user processors
coupled with test-data for compatibility testing and integration preparatory activities;
○ The effective integration and deployment of the user-processor into the PDGS
environment according to the agreed processing model (on-demand, systematic). This
includes the development of a user interface to be configured on the MMUS/ngEO web
portal;
○ Support to the definition and integration of user-processors under the form of a helpdesk
activated throughout this phase of the collaboration;
4.10.2.2.2.2 On-Demand Hosted-Processing Scenario
Following processor integration activities, this operation scenario will be activated according
to the agreed on-demand hosted-processing option or as a preliminary step to the systematic
processing option.
The user-provided processor will be available for remote-triggering on-demand from the userbase.
For this, a user-interface to the processing will be provided allowing the authorised user
to:
○ Define the processing jobs input parameters such as input data products and
processing parameters;
○ Trigger the job processing and monitor its execution;
○ Retrieve the generated output and execution log files;
○ Define batch execution rules triggering the automated generation of products.
