and other existing ones will evolve towards an operational scenario that will support Europe’s<br />

aim in accomplishing sustainable development and global governance of the environment.<br />

○ GEOLAND2 for the Land Monitoring Core Service (LMCS)<br />

○ MYOCEAN for the Marine Core Service (MCS)<br />

○ SAFER for the Emergency Response Core Service (ERCS)<br />

○ GMOSAIC for the Security Pilot Service (SEC)<br />

○ MACC for the Global Atmospheric Pilot Service (GAS)<br />

○ SIRS, contractor of DG-REGIO for the Urban Atlas (UA) project<br />

The above list will be updated regularly (e.g. downstream services or various EU Agencies<br />

may become eligible).<br />

Specific emphasis has been profuse during the analysis to requirements regarding:<br />

○ Level of processing;<br />

○ Geo-location accuracy;<br />

○ Area of interest and size;<br />

○ Data delivery constrains;<br />

○ Satellite tasking constrains;<br />

The complete results of the study are explained in the annex table.<br />

A.3 GMES Services Requirements Overview<br />

The DAP-R collects the needs of the following GMES services:<br />

○ Land services<br />

○ Emergency Services<br />

○ Security Services<br />

○ Marine services<br />

○ Atmosphere services<br />

A.3.1<br />

Land Services<br />

The aim of the Land Monitoring Core Service (LMCS) is to provide timely, systematic,<br />

autonomous, and independent coverage about the use of land resources and the changes of<br />

the land environment. The Land monitoring core service will support policy and decision<br />

makers at all levels and aid them in reviewing, monitoring and reporting on obligations under<br />

international treaties and implemented policies in the field of agriculture, water quality, soil<br />

protection, forest monitoring, urban development, biodiversity, etc. Three main components<br />

within the land services have been identified:<br />
