IVIS | Kinetic
Real-Time Fluorescent and
Bioluminescent Fast Imaging
The IVIS Kinetic from Caliper Life Sciences provides a real time, fast
im aging system enabling acquisition of biologically relevant events
within milliseconds. The IVIS Kinetic can perform both quantitative
luminescence and fluorescence as a standard high signal to noise
imager and as a high speed imager. The system includes a highly
sensitive EMCCD camera for signal enhancement and the ability to
reduce exposure times enabling fast kinetics. From the leading optical
imaging platform for in vivo analysis, IVIS systems are supported by
a range of practical accessories developed through experience in
research laboratories worldwide. The IVIS Kinetic offers a light-tight
injection port which supporting a syringe injector system enabling
real time compound and/or substrate administration. A removable
pull-out tray is included to facilitate pre-imaging animal procedures.

Imaging Results - Real-time Fast Imaging
The IVIS Kinetic is capable of imaging both fluorescence and bioluminescence for fast kinetic applications such as
millisecond calcium transients, compound and/or substrate distribution or perfusion, immune responses, pharmcokinetics
in anesthetized or conscious animal models. The IVIS Kinetic allows you to overlay real time events in both
photo graphic and bioluminescence or Fluorescence images simultaneously with a single camera.
Imaging Results - Monitoring Conscious Animals is Simple
Following conscious animals is simple. Evaluate single or multiple regions of interests (ROI) through time. By using
an IVIS Isolation Chamber, your subjects can freely move around and perform tasks while monitoring changes in
bioluminscence or fluorescence.
Imaging Results - EMCCD Camera Technology
Take advantage of 2 instruments in one. The IVIS Kinetic has all the features you would expect from an IVIS Lumina
and the EM Gain feature which significantly enhances your signal and reduce exposure times required to detect
real-time luminescent or fluorescent signals. EMCCD cameras are the optimal choice in performing a wide range
of fast, real time data acquisitions due its fast frame transfer chip design and overall longterm camera stability in
comparison to other fast imaging technologies. EMCCD’s allows the user to perform long exposure (no EM gain)
imaging procedures and fast kinetic apploications with the same camera while achieving higher quantum effeciences
and low detector noise.
Imaging Results - Living Image 3.1 Software- Quantitative Results
Living Image 3.1 for kinetic acquisitions offers the flexibility to adjust picture and overlay scaling of luminescence
and fluorescence settings during acquisition. Follow real-time data development directly in living image during
data acquisition.
Figure 4. Images left to right: Representation of Living Software 3.1 user interface for kinetic acquisitions. Post-acquisition, ROI’s are defined
at metastatic points of PC-3M-luc2 Bioware Ultra. Data is calculated and exported to almost any available statistical or graphing software.
