BACKGROUND<br />
Years ago, a young Mohican warrior was attacked by a bear as he gathered herbs in the forest<br />
for his pregnant wife. Fighting for his life, he managed to kill the huge bear. Taking it as a sign, he<br />
named his son Mahkwa. As Mahkwa grew in age and strength, he towered over his father, becoming<br />
more like the bear for which he was named. Having become one of the best warriors in the tribe,<br />
Mahkwa was allowed to bond with Wastachquaam, the former chief's best horse. Together, the pair<br />
seemed unstoppable, repeatedly defending his people from other tribes and the encroaching white<br />
strangers. Eventually, he was given a bride, but not wanting the marriage, she fled to the forests. There,<br />
she was captured by white men scouting the land and sent eastward to teach her culture and force her<br />
into translating for them. Mahkwa now stirs all tribes against the strangers he hates.<br />
HIS SECRET: Mahkwa lives with the silent guilt that he caused the former chief's death.<br />
