Dear Parents/Guardians:
As Prom Night for Indian Hills approaches, we join our Seniors in planning an
enjoyable, memorable experience for your son or daughter. The site selected for this
year's
Senior Prom is The Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, New Jersey on Thursday, June
3, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. until 12:00 midnight.
In order to help make this activity an evening of positive memories for our students,
we call your attention to the following considerations:
1. As a school activity, the Prom falls under the regulations and policies of the
Board of Education.
2. Parents of Indian Hills' students continue to be responsible for the physical
condition of their teenager and guest. Students and guests should arrive at The
Hyatt Regency no later than 8:00 p.m. If you are having a party for your
teenager and friends, or if he/she is going to someone's party before the Prom,
please be certain that no alcoholic beverages are to be served. Also, if the
students are traveling to the Prom by limousine, please be sure that no
alcoholic beverages are provided or available en route to the Prom.
3. STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT ANY STUDENT/GUEST WHO APPEARS UNDER
THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR ANY OTHER ILLEGAL SUBSTANCE MUST
RECEIVE AN IMMEDIATE PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND DRUG/ALCOHOL TEST
FROM A PHYSICIAN. AN ADMINISTRATOR OR CHAPERONE WILL CONTACT THE
PARENT OR GUARDIAN. THE PARENT/GUARDIAN WILL BE EXPECTED TO TAKE
HIS/HER TEENAGER OR GUEST DIRECTLY FOR THIS EXAMINATION AND A
WRITTEN REPORT MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE PRINCIPAL WITHIN 24
HOURS. IF WE CANNOT REACH A PARENT/GUARDIAN, THE SCHOOL WILL
ARRANGE FOR AN IMMEDIATE EXAMINATION.
4. Students/guests arriving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled
substance will not be admitted. A chaperone or administrator will contact you
immediately. In addition if your student/guest should become sick or unable to

cope with the evening's activities, you will be notified. Please remember, the
Prom is a school event and our discipline standards apply
5. Thursday, June 3 rd , is a regular school day and as such, attendance in
school is required. All Seniors will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m. whether or not
they are attending the Prom. Underclass students attending the Prom must
present a parent/guardian note to the main office before homeroom on June 3 rd
to be excused no earlier than 11:35 a.m. If an Indian Hills student does not
attend school on June 3 rd , he/she will not be permitted to attend the
Prom.
6. Friday, June 4 th , is a regular school day and all students are expected
to be in school. The attendance policy regulations will be in effect.
7. No outside beverages (including water bottles) will be allowed at the Prom.
Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided throughout the evening's festivities.
Students will be permitted to bring a purse no larger than a small clutch to
insure that no outside beverages are brought into the Prom site. There will be
no coat check, so any bag "larger than a clutch" simply cannot be brought into
the Prom.
8. Students are not permitted to leave the Prom site before 11:30 p.m. Any
student wishing to leave before that time will need a request in writing by the
parent/guardian before attending the Prom. If a student/guest is found
outside of the Prom site at any time, they will not be permitted to return
to the Prom. NO EXCEPTIONS!
9. The Hyattt Regency is a non-smoking facility and as such, no smoking will
be allowed in or outside of the Prom site.
10.Included with this letter is a Prom Emergency form to be completed and
signed by the parent/guardian of each student attending the Prom. By signing
the form, you and your student acknowledge receiving and reading this letter.
Please provide the required information and have your son or daughter return
the form to Mrs. Leggour or Mrs. Cohen at the time of purchasing their Prom
tickets. Tickets will NOT be sold to any senior without the emergency
form filled out and signed. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE
PROM WITHOUT AN EMERGENCY FORM ON FILE.
