Course Purpose 

This CME program is designed to cover clinical aspects of breast imaging including digital mammography, 

breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and interventional procedures, as well as medicolegal 

issues. The faculty consists of twelve nationally and internationally recognized experts. The program 

of lectures and panel discussions will be filled with “take home” information that should benefit 

every breast imaging practice. New for this year will be use of the popular audience response 

system for all challenging case sessions and most lectures.

Target Audience 

This course is designed for radiologists who interpret breast imaging studies and perform breast 

interventional procedures. Physicians in other specialties involved with the diagnosis and treatment 

of breast diseases, medical physicists, mammography technologists, breast center administrators, 

and other health care professionals will also benefit from this course. 

Course Objectives 

At the completion of the course, the participant should be able to: 

1. Identify the new 2012 ACR BI-RADS 5th Edition terminology for breast abnormalities seen on 

mammography, ultrasound, and MRI. 

2. Demonstrate a systematic approach to the assessment of calcifications and masses seen on mammography. 

3. Comprehend the latest technological developments in digital mammography, digital tomosynthesis, 

auotmated whole breast ultrasound and breast MRI. 

4. Comprehend the evolving role of automated whole breast ultrasound and MRI in screening, problem 

solving, and staging. 

5. Reduce their risk of false negative interpretation and malpractice litigation.

The program will cover cutting edge clinical areas for body CT and MR radiologists looking 

to introduce or improve the use of advanced methods into their practice. The lectures 

will highlight the current state of the art protocols, indications and results of MRI in different 

disease processes involving liver, kidneys, pancreas, prostate and bowel. In addition, 

we have lectures highlighting 3T imaging and diffusion imaging. The CME activity will 

be given by experts in the field, and will be based on scientific evidence as well as on the 

speakers’ experience. Several clinical cases will be provided. 



• Describe the indications and results of CT and MRI for hepatocellular carcinoma detection 

and staging. 

• Recognize challenges and review solutions with the use of 3T systems applied to the 

abdomen. 

• Review current results of diffusion imaging in the abdomen and pelvis. 

• Review current multiparametric approach for prostate cancer detection with MRI. 


This CME activity is primarily intended for Body and Cardiovascular Radiologists and

This course is designed for neuroradiologists, general radiologists, and clinicians who have 

an interest in imaging of the brain, spine, and head and neck. The case material shown will 

include a wide spectrum of the diseases that affect these areas. The specific utilization of 

CT, MRI, MRS, perfusion-diffusion and permeability imaging in the investigation of these 

diseases will be discussed. In each section, the imaging protocols, anatomy, pathology, and 

the clinically relevant differential diagnoses will be reviewed. This course will improve the 

participant’s ability to analyze CT and MR images, to offer a pertinent differential diagnosis, 

and to be familiar with the newest technologies applied to these regions. 



1. Present the essential anatomy and imaging protocols necessary to arrive at a 

diagnosis of the diseases of the central nervous system and head and neck. 

2. Recognize both the common and uncommon CNS and ENT diseases. 

3. Develop a differential diagnosis for each area that relates to the pertinent imaging and 

clinically relevant findings. 

4. Review the application of the newest imaging techniques to these areas. 

5. Improve the imaging skills of all of the course participants.

15 - 17, 2012), the fee for physicians is $950 for registrations postmarked by September 

15, 2012. After that date, the fee is $995. For Residents, Fellows, Retired or Military Physicians 

the fee is $850 before or $895 after September 15, 2012. Technologists, Nurses, or 

Allied Health Personnel, the fee is $750 before or $795 after September 15, 2012. 

For Mt. Sinai Update 2012: Body and Cardiovascular Imaging (Tuesday - Wednesday, 

October 16 - 17, 2012), the fee for physicians is $850 for registrations postmarked by 

September 16, 2012. After that date, the fee is $895. For Residents, Fellows, Retired or 

Military Physicians the fee is $750 before or $795 after September 16, 2012. Technologists, 

Nurses, or Allied Health Personnel, the fee is $650 before or $695 after September

Combined fee for Breast Imaging and Brain, Spine, Neurovascular & ENT Imaging 

Courses, for physicians is $1900 for registrations postmarked by September 15 or $1990 

thereafter; for Residents, Fellows, Retired or Military Physicians, the fee is $1700 before 

or $1790 after September 15. Technologists, Nurses, or Allied Health Personnel, the fee is 

$1500 before or $1590 after September 15. Tuition includes all course materials (including 

a comprehensive syllabus) and daily refreshment breaks. 

Enrollment is confirmed on the basis of receipt of registration fee. We do not process a registration 

without payment. We cannot guarantee the availability of course materials on site 

for registrations received less than one month before the first day of the meeting. 

REFUNDS: Full refunds, less a $75 service charge, will be made to those presenting IICME, 

Inc. with written notification of cancellation by September 15, 2012. After that date, no refunds 

will be given.
