67 Plans of coal mine workings<br />

(6) The accuracy of the plans mentioned in this section must be certified by—<br />
(a) for a surface mine—<br />
(i) a person registered, under the Surveyors Act 2003, as a<br />
surveyor with a registration endorsement of ‘mining (A)’ or<br />
‘mining (O)’; or<br />
(ii) a person with other competencies for surface mining surveying<br />
the committee considers is at least equivalent to the<br />
competencies mentioned in subparagraph (i); or<br />
(b) for an underground mine—<br />
(i) a person registered, under the Surveyors Act 2003, as a<br />
surveyor with a registration endorsement of ‘mining (A)’; or<br />
(ii) a person with other competencies for underground mining<br />
surveying the committee considers is at least equivalent to the<br />
competencies mentioned in subparagraph (i).<br />
(7) A reference in this section to plans is a reference to plans as certified under<br />
subsection (6).<br />

1.3 Symbols<br />
The technical symbols, sign conventions and definitions for strata to be<br />
shown on the Mine Workings Plan shall be in accordance with this document,<br />
and shall conform to those illustrated in Australian <strong>Standard</strong> AS 4368-1996<br />
Mine plans - Preparation and symbols, Australian <strong>Standard</strong> AS 2916-2007<br />
Symbols for graphic representation of coal seams and associated strata, and<br />
Geoscience Australia.<br />
If a symbol is not provided for in AS 4368, AS 2916 or Geoscience Australia,<br />
the Mine Surveyor may create a suitable symbol to be shown in the legend of<br />
the Mine Workings Plan. ..............<br />

(5) The accuracy of the plans mentioned in this section must be certified by—<br />
(a) for a mine other than an underground mine—a person<br />
having the competencies for surface mining surveying<br />
recognised by the committee, or registered as a surveyor<br />
or surveying associate under the Surveyors Act 2003; or<br />
(b) for an underground mine—a person having the<br />
competencies for underground mining surveying<br />
recognised by the committee.<br />
(6) A reference in this section to plans is a reference to plans as certified under<br />
subsection (5).<br />

Competencies <strong>Recognised</strong> by the Mining Safety and Health Advisory<br />
Committee Rows 8 & 9, Act – sections 58(5)(a) & (b)<br />
e.g. Row 9 applies to:<br />
A person certifying the accuracy of survey plans for an underground mine where<br />
there are more than 10 workers.<br />
• Mine Surveyor Certificate (All Mines) granted under the Mines Regulation<br />
Act 1964; or<br />
• RIISDM501A Conduct mine surveying operations (previously MNCG1000A),<br />
and 3 years underground mine surveying experience that includes experience of<br />
1 year in Australia; or<br />
• a person registered as a surveyor with a mining endorsement under the<br />
Surveyors Act 2003, Queensland; or<br />
• a person registered as a Mining Surveyor by the Board of <strong>Surveying</strong> and<br />
Spatial Information (BOSSI) of NSW; or<br />
• a person granted an Authorised Mine Surveyors Certificate under the Mines<br />
Safety and Inspection Regulations 1995 Western Australia - grade 1 for<br />
underground mines and quarries.<br />
