First Program Highlights announced

The Opening of Painting Forever!: A Collaboration between Berlinische Galerie, Deutsche Bank

KunstHalle, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, and Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin

Berlin Art Week’s New Partner: Deutsche Bank

After last year’s successful start, the second Berlin Art Week (17—22 September 2013) presents

the art of the city with numerous exhibitions and other events marking the high point of the fall

art season.

Berlin, 16 April 2013. Berlin Art Week was held for the first time last year with a combination of prominent

Berlin institutions of contemporary art and the two art fairs abc—art berlin contemporary and PREVIEW

BERLIN ART FAIR, and thrilled an audience of Berliners and international guests with an exciting program.

The success of this event made it the cornerstone of a long-term joint platform for presenting Berlins’ varied

art world.

This year’s Berlin Art Week will again be the event of the fall art season with a rich and varied program

featuring outstanding exhibitions, openings, events, and numerous special projects at the participating

institutions Akademie der Künste, Berlinische Galerie, C/O Berlin, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, KW Institute

for Contemporary Art, Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (n.b.k.),

Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst (NGBK) e.V., and numerous other partners across the city.

A highlight of Berlin Art Week 2013 is Painting Forever!, a collaboration between Berlinische Galerie,

Deutsche Bank KunstHalle, KW Institute for Contemporary Art and Nationalgalerie, Staatliche Museen zu

Berlin examining the subject of contemporary painting in Berlin. This is the first collaboration involving all four

institutions, and will open to mark the start of Berlin Art Week on 17 September 2013 with individual shows

and group exhibitions in all four locations.

Deutsche Bank has joined Berlin Art Week as a new, strong partner, further underscoring its commitment to

promoting Berlin as an art capital, as already demonstrated with the opening of Deutsche Bank KunstHalle

on 17 April 2013.

Again this year, Berlin Art Week will be offering a combination ticket covering admission to all exhibition sites.

Berlin Art Week is supported by the Senatsverwaltung für Wirtschaft, Technologie und Forschung sowie

the Senate Chancellery—Cultural Affairs. Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH manages communication and the

coordination of all events.
