SEATTLE — Speakers who will<br />

participate<br />

at the forthcoming Northwest regional<br />

convention of the National Ass'n of Concessionaires<br />

and National Ass'n of Theatre<br />

Owners of Washington and Oregon at the<br />

Washington Plaza Hotel March 4-6 and the<br />

schedule of events have been announced.<br />

Delegates will begin arriving Sunday, March<br />

4, with registration beginning at 6 p.m.,<br />

followed by a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m.<br />

The convention officially will open Monday,<br />

March 5, and the delegates will be<br />

welcomed by Lloyd Hughes, Harlan Fairbanks<br />

Co.. Seattle, NAC convention cochairman.<br />

Greetings will be extended by<br />

Virgil Odell, Odell Concession Specialties<br />

Co.! Caldwell. Ida.. NAC director-at-large<br />

and member of the NAC convention committee,<br />

and Fred Danz, Sterling Recreation<br />

Organization, Seattle, NATO regional president.<br />

Heading the list of speakers at the Monday<br />

morning business session are: Shaun<br />

Maclvor. Glasgow, Scotland, whose subject<br />

"Theatre Operations—Domestic and For-<br />

eign"; Harold F. Chesler, NAC president,<br />

who will conduct a concessionaire brainstorming<br />

quiz, and Vernon Parks, president,<br />

Employers Ass'n, who will discuss OSHA<br />

(the Occupational Safety & Health Act).<br />

Starting at 2 p.m., the theatre and concessionaire<br />

groups will hold separate seminar<br />

sessions. Theatre delegates will convene<br />

at Cinema 70 and 150, where product reels<br />

will be shown. Additionally, they will discuss<br />

such topics as "Censorship," "Advertising."<br />

"Film Buying" and "Self-Service<br />

vs. Rushup."<br />

Panelists are; Jack Dallas, operations<br />

manager. United Theatres, Seattle; Jack<br />

Lovett. Lovett Interstate Theatres. Portland,<br />

and William W. Proctor. William W. Proctor<br />

Co., Denver.<br />

The NAC seminar, convening at the same<br />

hour in the Washington Plaza Hotel, will<br />

hear panelists discuss such subjects as "Concessions<br />

and You," "Manufacturers Look to<br />

the Future" and "Hiring Practices." Panelists<br />

are: Jim Ohms, national accounts<br />

manager. Gold Medal Products Co., Cincinnati;<br />

Frank M. O'Brien, Coca-Cola USA,<br />

Atlanta; Duncan Shaw, Carnation Co., Los<br />

Angeles; Henry Cretors, Cretors & Co.,<br />

Tuesday, March 6, delegates will convene<br />

at 9 a.m. and be welcomed by Vernon B.<br />

Ryles jr., Poppers Supply Co. of Oregon,<br />

Portland, NAC director and NAC convention<br />

co-chairman. Speakers who will discuss<br />

the subject of ecology are: David Senescu,<br />

president, Epcon Co., and Al Munro, attorney-at-law.<br />

both of Seattle, and Claire Pratt,<br />

head of solid waste division, state of Washington,<br />

Olympia, Wash.<br />

A tradeshow consisting of local suppliers<br />

exhibiting theatre and concession equipment<br />

will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the<br />

Lexington and Concord rooms of the Washington<br />

Plaza Hotel and will run until 5<br />

p.m.<br />

Zollie M. Volchock, vice-president. Variety<br />

Clubs International, will act as master<br />

of ceremonies at a luncheon March 5, at<br />

which time delegates will be welcomed by<br />

John Chambers, deputy mayor, city of Seattle.<br />

A dinner, following a cocktail reception,<br />

will be held that evening at which<br />

Bud Saffle, Saffle Theatre Service, Seattle,<br />

and NATO convention committee member.<br />

The convention, with the theme of<br />

"Strike It Rich in Seattle at the 'Gold Rush'<br />

of '73," will be attended by theatre owners<br />

and food service-vending operators in the<br />

leisure-time field from the entire Northwest<br />

region. It is anticipated that more than 200<br />

theatre owners and concessionaires will be<br />

on hand.<br />

Montana's 'Big Sky<br />

Roundup' March 6J<br />

BILLINGS, MONT.—The 1973 NATO<br />

of Montana convention will be held March<br />

6-7 at the Northern Hotel, Billings, it is<br />

announced by Tim Warner, convention<br />

chairman. Titled "The Big Sky Roundup,"<br />

the conclave this year will be addressed<br />

by Roy White, president of national NATO;<br />

Harold Chessler, president of the National<br />

Ass'n of Concessionaires; Bob Tankersley.<br />

president of the Rocky Mountain Motion<br />

Picture Ass'n; Ross Campbell, NATO director<br />

and chairman of the limited marketing<br />

committee; George Buzzas, president<br />

of NATO of Montana; Jack McGee, vicepresident<br />

of the Midwest division, National<br />

General Corp.. and George Roscoe, head<br />

of e.\hibitor relations, NATO.<br />

The event will start Monday evening,<br />

March 5, with a 7 p.m. cocktail party at<br />

the Northern Hotel for early arrivals.<br />

Registration will be Tuesday morning,<br />

March 6. at 8:30 a.m. in the lobby of the<br />

Northern.<br />

The kickoff luncheon will start at 11:30<br />

a.m., with business sessions Tuesday afternoon,<br />

Wednesday morning and Wednesday<br />

afternoon. Along with these sessions will<br />

be "fun" evenings. Tuesday evening, March<br />

6, there will be a "western hoedown" at<br />

the Seventeen Club, with dinner and dancing<br />

in a western atmosphere. Advises Warner.<br />

"Bring your western duds, since no<br />

dudes will be allowed." Wednesday evening.<br />

March 7, there will be a grand ball with<br />

the theme "There's No Business Like Show<br />

Business.''<br />
