TELEFAST INDUSTRIES’ OLDEST<br />
EMPLOYEE TURNED 20 ON 02/29/12!<br />
On 2/29/<strong>2012</strong> Telefast Industries’ oldest employee,<br />
Chairman George Wasmer turned 20 years old. He was<br />
born February 29th, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio. George’s<br />
tenure in the fastener industry has spanned seven<br />
decades. His career began at Lake Erie Screw Corporation<br />
where he served as President from 1972 to 1996 and<br />
Chairman from 1996 to 2000.<br />
His expertise and leadership established Lake Erie<br />
Screw as a leader among domestic fastener<br />
manufacturers. His dedication to quality, service and<br />
innovative approaches to the industry resulted in his<br />
election as a board member to the Industrial Fastener<br />
Institute in 1988, becoming Chairman of the group in<br />
1990.<br />
Recognized nationwide for his leadership in the<br />
industry, Wasmer was appointed to the U.S. Commerce<br />
Department Fastener Advisory Committee from 1991-<br />
1999. His service there was instrumental in focusing<br />
attention on the safety issue of counterfeit fasteners in the<br />
industry. In 1988 Wasmer was inducted into the National<br />
Industrial Fastener Hall of Fame.<br />

George’s continued industry<br />
involvement in recent years<br />
includes serving as President of<br />
Parts Associates from 2003 to<br />
2004 and its Chairman from 2004 to 2009. In 2004 he<br />
became Chairman of Ottawa Products and he joined<br />
Telefast Industries in 2007 as its Chairman.<br />
A St. Ignatius graduate, Wasmer served in the United<br />
States Coast Guard before continuing his education at<br />
John Carroll University. Always strongly dedicated to his<br />
community, Wasmer has served on numerous boards<br />
including St. Ignatius High School, Catholic Community<br />
Foundation, Magnificat High School, Cleveland Central<br />
Catholic High School and Ursuline College. George has<br />
even turned his lifelong love of horseback riding into a<br />
service opportunity. Since 1999 he has volunteered with<br />
two different equestrian therapeutic riding groups bringing<br />
joy to many youngsters.<br />
George has been married to Mary Lu Schwind for over<br />
56 years and their lives have been blessed with five<br />
children and seven grandchildren.
