Dr Michael Keat<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Dr Keat<strong>in</strong>g taught <strong>in</strong> Politics and <strong>International</strong> Studies at the University of<br />

Warwick between 2001 and 2006. In 2000, he taught <strong>in</strong> Politics and<br />

<strong>International</strong> Studies at Murdoch University, Western Australia, and between<br />

1998 and 2000, <strong>in</strong> Political Science at the University of Western Australia. He is<br />

now Assistant Professor of <strong>International</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> and <strong>International</strong> Political<br />

Studies at <strong>Richmond</strong>, where he teaches on both the <strong>International</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> and<br />

Political Science degrees, and <strong>in</strong> the First Year Experience program.<br />

His research <strong>in</strong>terests revolve around globalization, governance and<br />

development. This cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g research project comb<strong>in</strong>es comparative and<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational political economy with public policy, and has a regional focus on<br />

Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. His PhD <strong>The</strong>sis was titled Global Best<br />

Practice(s) and Institutional Reform <strong>in</strong> Develop<strong>in</strong>g States: Central Banks and the Electricity<br />

Sector <strong>in</strong> Malaysia and Uganda, and his <strong>MA</strong> <strong>The</strong>sis <strong>The</strong> IMF, the World Bank and the<br />

Political Economy of Development: Inconsistency <strong>in</strong> the 1990s.<br />

Dr Christopher White<br />

PhD London School of Economics<br />

Dr White is a political theorist and specialist <strong>in</strong> foreign policy and<br />

globalization. Before com<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>Richmond</strong> Dr White was Lecturer <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>International</strong> <strong>Relations</strong>, Undergraduate Convenor and Director of Studies at<br />

the University of Read<strong>in</strong>g Postgraduate Institute. He has taught at the London<br />

School of Economics and Westm<strong>in</strong>ster University and worked at the Foreign<br />

and Commonwealth Office as an Assistant Editor of the government’s<br />

Annual Human Rights Report. He has also worked as an economist at<br />

Reuters/ Thomson and a research assistant at the House of Commons. Dr<br />

White was awarded his Doctorate <strong>in</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Relations</strong> from the London<br />

School of Economics and Political Science <strong>in</strong> 2003. His thesis explores the<br />

significance of globalization for British foreign policy. <strong>The</strong> thesis is titled: <strong>The</strong><br />

Function, Significance and Limitations of Globalisation <strong>in</strong> the New Labour Discourse.<br />

Prior to this Dr White achieved a Master of Arts <strong>in</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Relations</strong><br />

from the University of Kent at Canterbury where he was awarded the<br />

prestigious John Burton Prize for academic excellence. He also has a Batchelor<br />

of Science, Jo<strong>in</strong>t Honours <strong>in</strong> <strong>International</strong> Politics and Economics from<br />

Aberystwyth, University of Wales.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Richmond</strong> <strong>MA</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>International</strong><br />

<strong>Relations</strong> offers a course of study that<br />
