4. Gather public comments and feedback on the planning<br />

process.<br />

These meetings are intended to establish a better understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

the planning process, identify key issues and concerns from the<br />

public, and to identify possible creative solutions for these issues.<br />

One-on-One Meetings<br />

One-on-one meetings were conducted with various residents,<br />

business owners, and community leaders. At these meetings one<br />

or two members <strong>of</strong> the planning team sat down with the<br />

participant for roughly 15 – 20 minutes and asked these four<br />

questions at the beginning <strong>of</strong> the conversation:<br />

1) What is your Connection to the community<br />

2) What are the Assets <strong>of</strong> the community<br />

3) What are the important Issues facing the community<br />

4) What is your Vision for the future <strong>of</strong> the community<br />

residents, pr<strong>of</strong>essional <strong>Village</strong> staff, and appointed public <strong>of</strong>ficials.<br />

At these meetings committee members comment on key issues in<br />

the planning process, review and comment on plan components,<br />

and provide advice on visioning.<br />

Field Work/Data Collection<br />

This consists <strong>of</strong> a variety <strong>of</strong> different activities including: field work<br />

and field surveys, mapping community facilities and assets, taking<br />

pictures, verification <strong>of</strong> land uses, etc.<br />

Although the conversations were based on these four questions<br />

there was not a specific time allowed for each question. The<br />

participants were allowed to talk as long as they wanted about any<br />

<strong>of</strong> the four questions, or any additional ideas they brought up. The<br />

goal is to facilitate a conversation where the participants guide the<br />

conversation and focus on the information they feel is most<br />

important.<br />

Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Meetings<br />

The <strong>Folsom</strong> Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is a committee<br />

that <strong>of</strong>fers input on key ideas and issues to the planning<br />

consultants, and supports the planning process in a manner that<br />

serves the best interests <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Folsom</strong> community. The members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Technical Advisory Committee represent a diverse crosssection<br />

<strong>of</strong> the <strong>Folsom</strong> community including community leaders and<br />
