TS Summer Program: Imagine Mars

Talent Search students participated in

numerous fun activities during this years

two week summer program. Students did

the Imagine Mars Project through the Jet

Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), which involved

creating their own self sustaining

communities in mars. Students did so by

creating a Martian newspaper in their English

class and learning all there is to know

about Mars in their Science class.

In addition students participated in STEM

workshops where bridgesand towers were

built and measured for resistance!

The summer program also included a visit

to Caltech University’s Preview Day, the

Griffith Observatory, and the California

Science Center located in Los Angeles.

The Talent Search Program and Project Say from the City of

Anaheim hosted the Second Annual Halloween Social. The

social was held at the Anaheim Downtown Community Center

on Friday October 29th, 2010. The students enjoyed

dancing, taking pictures at the picture booth, and a variety of

refreshments and snacks. Through this magnificent event the

students were able to network with other Talent Search and

Project Say participants. A special Thanks to Jarritos for

sponsoring the event and providing soft drinks.

University 101: A College Experience

Seniors who were eligible to apply to a four

year university were invited to attend the Talent

Search’s first annual University 101 seminar

this past summer!

This two-day seminar provided students with

workshops to inform them about their college

options. Students were presented with information

regarding CSU and UC eligibility, how

to write a personal statement, SAT/ACT information

and much more! The seminar culminated

with a fun pool party at CSUF’s Student
