DAYTON’S POLLED MILLIE
HOMOZYGOUS POLLED FULLBLOOD MALE. Three years ago when Daytons PP Mosel 10R was expecting her
fi rst calf, we couldn’t wait to see what she was having. True cattlemen can understand where we’re coming from.
Bull or heifer, we didn’t care, we just wanted to see it. When she had this tiny, wee bull calf, Lee said “There’s
our next heifer bull and he’s a real bellringer” - hence the name. We talked about his dam and grand dam in the
National Trust Sale catalogue so I won’t say much here. We would like to thank Dan and Karen Skeels of Anchor
D Ranch for their purchase of the fl ush at that sale. The “Ringer” grew into a small stylish yearling. We were
lucky to get semen on him that year and used him on our heifers. Disappointed we were not, as his heifer calves
averaged 80 lbs at birth and the bull calves 90 lbs at birth. They also have good growth, keeping up nicely with
the cows’ calves. We would like to thank the following breeders who showed confi dence in the Bellringer and
their purchase of semen in the spring of 2008 – Richard Kulyk of Kulyk Simmentals, Darryl and Sheila Pike of Wild
West Simmentals and Allan Dyck of Stillwater Simmentals. We would like to congratulate Blushrose Simmentals
for their Reserve Grand Champion Female win at the Battleford 4-H show; a fi rst calf heifer with a Bellringer
heifer calf took those honors. The Bellringer is structurally correct, with a small head, fi ne bones in his legs and
his shoulders are set in nicely for calving ease. He is a proven heifer bull with a great temperament and is very
easy to handle. He throws lots of pigment on his calves – no spots. Selling full possession on the bull including
semen and walking rights. Also going with him is a great insurance policy; 150 straws of Canadian use semen.
With two calf crops by him, it was decided that selling him was the best option. Lee and I are very proud of the
Bellringer and what better place to showcase him than at the Fleckvieh Equation Sale this December.
