Background<br />
The Hon. Chief Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra is the ex-offlcio President of<br />
the Board of Governors at Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development<br />
Administration (YASHADA). <strong>Policy</strong> initiatives and annual workplans are reviewed and<br />
approved by the Members of the Board during their meetings. The presence and authority<br />
of the Hon. Chief Secretary ensures the support and guidance of the Government of<br />
Maharashtra.<br />
The proposal to establish an Institute for Productive and Empowered Old Age (IPEOA)<br />
at YASHADA was reviewed and approved for establishment under the aegis of<br />
YASHADA.<br />

The Government of Maharashtra had requested YASHADA to formulate a suitable<br />
proposal to set up an "Institute for Productive and Empowered Old Age". Shri Suresh<br />
Kumar, lAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Social Justice Department, Mantralaya had<br />
indicated that funding arrangements for such Centre could be explored.<br />
