"The Dignity Foundation", Mumbai, an NGO working actively in the field of old age<br />

research and resettlement has come forward to assist YASHADA in this endeavor.<br />

Considering the excellent work done by the Dignity Foundation, in its work for<br />

productive and empowered old age, YASHADA has signed a MoU with the Foundation<br />

to collaborate in this effort.<br />

The institute would function as a repository of knowledge about ageing in Maharashtra<br />

and in India, will recommend policy initiatives to the Government, conduct research<br />

about the impact of ageing within the human population in the State and will enable<br />

capacity building through training programmes and workshops. Accordingly,<br />

YASHADA and the Dignity Foundation have begun working together towards<br />

establishing. a dedicated institute under the aegies of YASHADA.<br />

Therefore, the Board of Governors have vide XXXII BoG Minutes Number 68 and 69<br />

approved the proposal to establish "Institute for Productive and Empowered Old Age<br />

(IPEOA)" at YASHADA.<br />

The following decisions are now activated with effect from January 22, <strong>2004</strong>.<br />

1. YASHADA and the Dignity Foundation will work together towards establishing a<br />

dedicated institute under the aegies of YASHADA, to be named as the "Institute<br />

for Productive and Empowered Old Age (IPEOA)".<br />

2. The institute will function as a Recourse Centre and as the repository of<br />

knowledge about ageing in Maharashtra and in India, and will assist the<br />

Government in policy formulation on old age issues.<br />

3. The institute will recommend policy initiatives to the Government, conduct<br />

research about the impact of ageing within the human population in the State and<br />

will enable capacity building through training programmes and workshops.<br />

4. The staffing pattern for the IPEOA has been approved by the XXXIInd BoG and<br />

includes permanent faculty and staff.<br />

5. The Director General, YASHADA, has been empowered to frame the recruitment<br />

rules for the faculty positions at IPEOA if special qualifications would be<br />

required.<br />

The above decisions are being brought to the notice of all concerned.<br />
