2013 Central Wisconsin State Fair • Page 3
Welcome to the 111 th Central Wisconsin State Fair!
For over a hundred years, the fair has provided
a venue for the agricultural community to
display their harvests, share insights on how
to improve the quality and productivity of
their agricultural endeavors, gather together
to sing, dance, tell tall stories, and just have
fun. It is appropriate this year that our theme
reflects this – “Take Time for a Great Time!”
Some early morning or late evening, stroll past the barns
where parents and their families huddle with other barn
mates and talk, play cards, sing songs, talk about their
animals or just hang out. It is a glimpse of life before the
advent of television, cell phones, iPads; a time where
people had the time and the desire to talk with one
another and make friends quickly.
But, for those of you who need a bit more to be
entertained, we’ve got that too. Check out our
entertainment on the grounds, in the Marshfield
Clinic Family Entertainment Tent, and the grandstand.
Excitement is building as we introduce our lineup with
Justin Moore, Uncle Kracker, Night Ranger, The Oak
Ridge Boys (40th Anniversary Tour), and Southbound
(a local favorite). Come and jam to a new beat! New
this year is the high flying action of DockDogs; a dock
jumping and dock diving canine performance sport.
Come and experience the exhilaration and rush as you
speed down the Zipline; a first for Central Wisconsin State
Fair!
Livestock shows, junior and senior project exhibits, and
judging will be happening daily. This is interesting stuff
if you’ve never watched it. Did you know, in livestock
judging, the animal, as well as the handler are being
appraised The handler has to be in as good a form as
the animal. Come watch and cheer on your favorite dog
handler as Fido struts his stuff while keeping a keen eye
on their handler during the 4-H Dog Show!
Fair Office and Entry Office Hours
Catch the Draft Horse Show and Horse Pull – these
animals are incredible to watch. The Draft Horse Show
is the largest not only in Wisconsin, but in the entire
Midwest! It is a sight you will never forget as you see
these massive horses getting prepared to pull wagons, as
their owners feverously await their opportunity to show
off their talented hitch. Now, that is horsepower at its
best!
On Monday, it’s time to forget the music and hear the
roar and thunder of mighty engines as the Truck and
Tractor Pull monster machines demonstrate their brute
force. Later in the day after those “pulls”, the Demo
Derby cars smash’em and crash’em in front of your very
eyes! And that’s how we celebrate on Labor Day!
Our fair could not be complete if we did not thank our
sponsors and volunteers! Without their generous support,
our Central Wisconsin State Fair would not exist. Please
take the time to thank them personally for their time and
efforts!
The fair has so much to offer that we have not
highlighted – 70 animals in our petting zoo, local
performers, fun competitions, 4-H exhibits and
demonstrations galore!
Come and find out what everyone is talking
about at the 111th running of the Central
Wisconsin State Fair and don’t forget to
“Take Time for a Great Time!”
