Voorwoord/preface<br />
Al meer dan 35 jaar is Borek vooruitstrevend op het gebied<br />
van parasols en buitenmeubelen en blijft steeds de creatieve<br />
grenzen verleggen om kwalitatief hoogwaardige en pure producten<br />
te creëren. Producten die zorgen voor ultiem zitcomfort<br />
en perfecte schaduw. Zoals een mooie wijn rijpt, zo groeit<br />
ook onze collectie. Met grote aandacht voor elk klein detail<br />
en het gekozen materiaal. Bij Borek is een ontwerp pas af, als<br />
de ultieme samenhang is bereikt met het buitenleven. Sinds<br />
1977 werken we hiervoor nauw samen met vooraanstaande<br />
ontwerpers en dit resulteert elk seizoen weer in uiterst smaakvolle<br />
buitenmeubelen en bijpassende parasols. Borek weet als<br />
geen ander om ‘genieten’ en ‘ontspannen’ samen te brengen<br />
in unieke producten. De tuin vormt hierin het centrale middelpunt,<br />
als domein van rust om met familie en vrienden in<br />
te genieten. Elk nieuw ontwerp van Borek moet een toegevoegde<br />
waarde aan dit ultieme genot van het buitenleven<br />
opleveren. De nieuwe collectie toont zich volledig in balans<br />
met de voorwaarden die Borek zichzelf al jarenlang stelt.<br />
En waarin geen enkele concessie is gedaan, niet in kwaliteit,<br />
functionaliteit of in uitstraling. Daarom zijn wij ook blijvend<br />
trots, ieder jaar weer. Trots op onze inspanningen, die ook nu<br />
weer hebben geleid tot een spraakmakende collectie. Rope is<br />
een uniek materiaal dat Borek exclusief gebruikt in een reeks<br />
nieuwe producten zoals Lissone en Portofino. Helemaal van<br />
deze tijd zijn de bijpassende, handgehaakte Crochettes. Teak<br />
is weer helemaal terug in de nieuwe loungecollectie Viking en<br />
Milano. Maar ook in de Venice-tafels met grijze finish en in<br />
de prachtige familietafel Roma met een lengte van maar liefst<br />
5.00 meter. Teak is prachtig in combinatie met luxe kussens,<br />
o.a. jacquards in de nieuwe warme kleuren Paon gris, Gold<br />
chanvre en Carbone taupe. Diverse lounge collecties worden<br />
standaard geleverd met all weather kussens. Kers op de<br />
taart is een royale parasol die u schaduw en verkoeling geeft.<br />
Nieuw dit jaar bij Borek zijn de grootformaat vrijhangende<br />
parasol Tarente van maar liefst 4.00 x 4.00 meter en de vrolijk<br />
gestreepte Madera parasols. We wensen u veel kijk- en leesgenot<br />

We are pleased to present the new Borek brochure with our<br />
high-profile innovations for the 20<strong>13</strong> outdoor season. Borek<br />
continues to push boundaries in order to create high-quality,<br />
pure products – products which provide ultimate seating<br />
comfort and perfect shade. Our collection can be compared<br />
to good wine: it gets even better as it matures. We always pay<br />
great attention to the smallest details and the materials we<br />
select. Borek does not consider any design complete until it is<br />
perfectly compatible with the outdoor world. To achieve this,<br />
we have been working closely together with prominent designers<br />
since 1977, which has resulted in extremely tasteful outdoor<br />
furniture and matching parasols every season, time and time<br />
again. Like no other, Borek knows how to combine ‘enjoyment’<br />
and ‘relaxation’ into unique products. The garden is our main<br />
focus, a peaceful domain to be enjoyed with family and friends.<br />
Every new Borek design adds value to this ultimate enjoyment<br />
of outdoor life. Our new collection is in complete balance with<br />
the conditions Borek has been imposing on itself for years. No<br />
concessions are made – in quality, in functionality or appearance.<br />
This is why we are always so proud of our efforts – once<br />
again they have resulted in another high-profile collection.<br />
Rope is a unique material that Borek uses exclusively in a range<br />
of new products such as Lissone and Portofino. The matching<br />
hand-crocheted Crochettes are right up to the minute. Teak<br />
has made a full comeback in our new Viking and Milano<br />
lounge collections, as well as in our Venice grey-finished tables<br />
and in the beautiful Roma family table, which is no less than<br />
5.00 m long. Teak combines wonderfully with luxury cushions,<br />
including our jacquards in the new warm colours of Paon gris,<br />
Gold chanvre, and Carbone taupe. Several lounge collections<br />
come with all-weather cushions as a standard. The icing on<br />
the cake is a large parasol, which will offer you plenty of shade<br />
and enable you to stay cool. A new item in this year’s Borek<br />
collection is the large-size Tarente parasol, which measures no<br />
less than 4.00 x 4.00 m, and the attractively striped Madera<br />
parasols. We hope you enjoy reading and browsing through<br />

Borek by Eric KuSTer<br />
The celebrated designer is best known for his international<br />
and Dutch celebrity clientele, for which he drew<br />
up countless private residences. Moreover, Kuster defined<br />
the face of various public venues, from hotels to<br />
night clubs to bars, most notably the distinctive night<br />
club Jimmy Woo in Amsterdam and FC Barcelona’s<br />
Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain. His typically glamourous<br />
outings are derived from ‘metropolitan luxury’, a<br />
fitting label for his design approach, fed by his cosmopolitan<br />
travels, exquisite taste and love for both classic<br />
and modern design.<br />
‘The collection I designed for Borek clearly distinguishes<br />
itself from other outdoor furniture by its timeless, international<br />
appeal. Each piece of furniture individually<br />
blends in with any given interior style, around the<br />
world. I consciously opted for generously-sized, solid<br />
designs. Subtle or delicate furniture easily sees itself diminished<br />
in an existing space; large-sized pieces allow<br />
for creating true interior statements, giving way to a<br />
complete new look that incorporates the already existing<br />
designs in a space.<br />
Borek and I share the same design principles: an international<br />
and timeless look, outstanding quality, luxury<br />
and not last comfort. It has made our collaboration a<br />
smooth, enjoyable and successful process, and, as the<br />
past has shown us, something to be repeated.<br />

Marcel Wolterinck and Borek<br />
Borek, by Wolterinck<br />
De grote kracht achter Wolterinck is designer Marcel<br />
Wolterinck. Hij ontwerpt met zijn team interieurs,<br />
exterieurs, tuinen, terrassen en producten. Vanuit<br />
Wolterinck’s World zorgt hij dat ruimtes in binnenen<br />
buitenland de Wolterinck metamorfose ondergaan.<br />
Altijd gebaseerd op rust, ritme en symmetrie.<br />
Zijn kleurgebruik is sober en zijn materialen zijn puur.<br />
‘Binnen’ probeert hij altijd met ‘buiten’ te verbinden.<br />
De collectie die Wolterinck heeft gemaakt is nieuw in<br />
vorm en materiaal. Marcel Wolterinck: “Ik liet me inspireren<br />
door tuinen die mij aanspreken, waarin rust,<br />
ritme en symmetrie zit. Ook belangrijk voor mij is dat<br />
het interieur van het huis goed aansluit bij de buitenruimte.<br />
Een vloeiende overgang tussen deze twee<br />
werelden, geeft een prettig gevoel en maakt de totale<br />
leefomgeving groter.”<br />
Dat goede gevoel moet ook terug komen in de meubels.<br />
“Ten eerste moet een stoel lekker zitten en ten<br />
tweede gebruik ik graag nieuwe, bijzondere materialen.<br />
Bijvoorbeeld de rope in de Modena serie. Daarnaast<br />
is gemak belangrijk. De bank uit de Horizon collectie<br />
is licht hanteerbaar door het aluminium frame. Door<br />
de losse elementen kan je er desgewenst een grotere<br />
bank of een hoekbank van maken. De kussens zorgen<br />
voor aangenaam comfort en een mooi contrast met<br />
de strakke horizontale lijnen van de collectie. Kortom,<br />
onze samenwerking heeft geleid tot een geslaagde,<br />
nieuwe collectie, waarop ik heel trots ben.”<br />
Borek, by Wolterinck<br />
The great force behind Wolterinck<br />
is designer Marcel Wolterinck.<br />
With his team, he designs interiors,<br />
exteriors, gardens, patios<br />
and products. Working from his<br />
base at Wolterinck’s World he<br />
ensures that spaces at home and<br />
abroad undergo the Wolterinck<br />
metamorphosis – one that is always<br />
based on peace, rhythm,<br />
and symmetry. His use of colour<br />
is sober and his materials are<br />
pure. He always tries to connect<br />
the ‘indoors’ to the ‘outdoors’.<br />
The collection Wolterinck made is new in both shape<br />
and material use. Marcel Wolterinck: “I got my inspiration<br />
from gardens that appealed to me, and which<br />
exuded peace, rhythm, and symmetry. Another important<br />
aspect to me is that the interior of the house<br />
matches the space outside. A smooth transition between<br />
these worlds gives one a good feeling and increases<br />
the overall size of the living environment.” This<br />
‘good feeling’ needs to be reflected in the furniture as<br />
well. “First and foremost, a chair needs to be comfortable<br />
to sit on and, secondly, I like to use new and<br />
special materials, e.g. the rope in the Modena series.<br />
Furthermore, ease of use is crucial. The couch from<br />
the Horizon collection is easy to handle because of its<br />
aluminium frame. Due to the loose elements it can be<br />
turned into a larger couch or a corner couch, if desired.<br />
The cushions provide both pleasant comfort and a nice<br />
contrast to the taut horizontal lines of the collection.<br />
Basically, our collaboration has led to a successful new<br />
collection, one I am very proud of.”<br />
