The Open Water Diver Certification
Your ticket to the underwater world - the “OPEN WATER DIVER” certificate.
Your SSI Student academics and water training sessions combined will help you learn
everything you need to know to start your adventure the fun and correct way. The SSI online
training includes study guide questions at the end of each section to help you retain your
new knowledge and test your retention. During your SSI Open Water Diver training sessions
you will learn all of the necessary skills and safe diving procedures to be a comfortable &
confident diver.
A Dive Shop
SSI Open Water Diver certification cards are recognized throughout the world. They entitle
you to dive with other certified divers, enable you to purchase/rent equipment and obtain air
fills anywhere you choose to dive.

Your training will focus on the four critical components of great scuba education:

Our unique approach to dive training is known as “comfort through repetition”. This
means that we will work on each skill with you until each one becomes second

Your SCUBA Diving Course - How do I learn
Becoming a diver is simple, safe and fun. A qualified instructor can teach you to dive comfortably and confidently in as
little as three/four days In general an Open Water Diver course consists of 3 parts: Academics, Pool Training
and Open Water Sessions.
Academics - The theory, which is simple & interesting, will give you all the information
you will need to dive safely & confidently – Home study - You will complete your study
online (e-learning). Then attend a review sessions at your SSI Dive Center “A Dive
Shop”.
Pool Training - you will learn all the skills you will be using in the open water in the
safety of a pool. After being fitted for your scuba diving gear, you get wet first in a pool
where you perfect your diving skills
Open Water Sessions - You will complete at least 4 open water dives (Open water can be defined as an open
body of water such as a lake or the ocean) and have the chance to experience everything you learned in the pool
hands-on. You will enjoy the amazing sensation of being weightless while exploring the beauty & wonder of the
underwater world.
After successfully completing the Academics, the Pool and Open Water Sessions you will be
certified as SSI Open Water Diver - It's your global license to dive!
