<strong>Moat</strong> provides specialist accommodation for older people in a variety of sheltered<br />

schemes. Each scheme has 24 hour emergency care alarm cover. Support is provided<br />

to residents according to their individual needs.<br />

Sheltered housing provides older residents with a comfortable, manageable and secure<br />

home of their own: preserving their privacy, dignity and independence, whilst giving<br />

them ready access to additional support when they need it.<br />

The support co-ordinator maintains daily contact with residents. They help to organise<br />

a range of additional services to ensure that residents can stay in their accommodation<br />

for as long as they wish.<br />

About the scheme<br />

<strong>Denham</strong> <strong>Close</strong> is a sheltered housing scheme which is located in Welling, Kent. It<br />

consists of one block with a lovely central garden.<br />

About the properties<br />

<strong>Denham</strong> <strong>Close</strong> has three floors at the front of the scheme and two floors at the back. It<br />

comprises 3 x two bedroom apartments, 12 x one bedroom apartments and 20 studio<br />

apartments. All homes have their own bathrooms and kitchens. Within the scheme<br />

there is a communal lounge, kitchen, laundry room and gardens.<br />

Local facilities and social activities<br />

<strong>Denham</strong> <strong>Close</strong> is well appointed for local shops, parks and other amenities. There are<br />

doctors’ surgeries and pharmacies within easy reach of the scheme and transport by<br />

bus is regular and nearby.<br />

At <strong>Denham</strong> <strong>Close</strong> there is a great community spirit. Various weekly activities are held<br />

like bingo evening, fish and chips suppers, card nights and afternoon teas. From time<br />

to time outings are also arranged. Most of the activities at <strong>Denham</strong> <strong>Close</strong> are organised<br />

by residents for residents.<br />

The support service provided by <strong>Moat</strong> is monitored against a national standard. <strong>Moat</strong><br />

has been assessed as an ‘A’ grade provider, the highest standard. <strong>Moat</strong> is currently<br />

going through an accreditation process for the Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies.<br />

How can I apply for sheltered housing<br />

If you are over 55 years old, you can apply for sheltered housing.<br />

Nominations for sheltered housing are received by <strong>Moat</strong> via the local authority.<br />

Therefore you will need to register with Bexley Borough Council.<br />

Priority is given to those who have additional support needs.<br />
