Welcome from Bouchard Livestock International
Welcome to the annual Source of Elite Simmental Genetics Sale. Every year as I welcome people to the Source Sale, I can’t help but think
of the number of family cattle operations in the Lloydminster region that were such a large part of early Simmental history in Canada, and
for that fact in North America. Without recognizing these pioneers by family name I want to pay tribute to those that did so much in paving
the way for us to achieve the tremendous success the Simmental breed has across North America today.
In 2012 we have once again been given the opportunity to select right from the top of great established breeding programs. I certainly
want to welcome the first time consignors, they have allowed me to select cattle that will represent their name well going into the future.
The bred heifers are those deep , broody kind that you have come to expect to see at the Source. The opens provide a bit more diversity in
terms of type and pedigree, providing that opportunity to fill a genetic spot in your program. Our 2012 herd bull is a star in the making. He
is a Full Fleck that is extremely stout and coloured perfect for the traditional cattle of today. His dam came out of Source as a bred heifer. We
are quickly seeing Source cattle making their mark in the Simmental world.
I want to thank the consignors for the opportunity to select and organize this first class event. All of us at Bouchard Livestock will be
available should you require further info or assistance. If you are unable to join us on Monday, December 3 give our cell numbers a call. We
will be honoured to act on your behalf. Plan to stay in your seats following this sale as the Midwestern Breeders Sale follows immediately
after. - Brian Bouchard
Welcome to the Source Sale! Aumack Simmentals is operated
by Randy, Kathy, Russell and Brenda Aumack. We currently
calve around 110 registered Simmentals and 40 commercial
females. We are very committed to the Simmental industry as
selling bulls is the main income for our operation. We market
bulls through our annual Northern Alliance Bull Sale in Spiritwood
each March.
The breds and heifers that are selected for this year’s sale are
off the top of our replacements and we feel they will meet the
demands of the industry. The high quality of the cattle in the
Source and Mid Western Breeders sales has proven it to be the
place to purchase replacement females.
We again welcome you to the Source Sale and look forward
to visiting with you on sale day.
We at Black Gold Simmental are very excited to be part of
the 2012 Source Sale. We very much appreciate the opportunity
to participate in this sale with some of the elite Simmental breeders
in the industry. Due to a strong set of 2012 heifer calves, our
2012 sale offering consists of 4 open heifers and our favorite bull
calf.
Black Gold is a family run business that has been raising
Simmental cattle for over 30 years. Since our dispersal in 2002,
we have maintained a strong interest for Simmental cattle. Along
with this passion and a keen interest from a younger generation
we are rebuilding a select Simmental herd.
In 2012, the enthusiasm from the younger generation drove
us to participating in several summer shows and this fall we will
be returning to show at Agribition, ending an 18 year absence.
We look forward to seeing you at the fall shows and sales. Please
give us a call if you have any questions on our sale offering.
14Z has been a standout since birth and he has matured into an exciting
herdbull prospect. We purchased his dam at the 2010 Source
Sale and she is a full sibling to Crossroad Radium. We are very impressed
with our Colossal calves as they are very consistent in their
muscle pattern, and pigmentation. We took this guy out once this
summer, where he was named the Reserve Champion bull in the
2012 Tiger Lily Classic, and then was second in class alongside his
dam. We are retaining semen for in-herd use and we are selling full
possession and semen interest. 14Z won Grand Champion alongside
his dam at the Lloydminster Stockade Round-Up. Come see him and
We can’t make them any better than this! Brian could not take his eyes
off of this feature female when he walked through our pastures this
summer. This is the second Stubby daughter that this young TNT Gunner
transplant daughter has raised, which opened the door to bring
Yura Queen to this great sale. These Stubby females are all thick, moderate-framed
and so easy doing, we feel they will make tremendous
cows. Solid red and full of volume, we are confident her new owners
Here is a stand out black blaze faced female out of the
popular Stubby herd sire. Both his sons and daughters
have been admired for their undeniable qualities and have
been high sellers at sales over the last few years. Here is a
heifer with lots of thickness yet still maintains her femininity
and eye appeal. Her powerful dam raised a super stubby
bull calf this year that will definitely be in our February
bull sale, and she is also bred the same way again. Yozie is
bred to the easy calving Crossroad Black Belt, who without
question is one of the best black bulls we have ever
raised. He was a member of the Supreme champion pen
of bulls at both Edam and Lloydminster and the high seller
at our 2010 bull sale going to Pizzey Simmentals & Foxy
Lady Cattle Co. in Manitoba. We only have a small bank of
semen and unfortunately the bull is now deceased. This is
going to be one interesting calf, opportunity awaits!
daughter displays. Jody purchased her dam from Haas
20th bull sale. Yolivia has been a pasture favorite all summer
and we thought it was only fitting to consign her to
platinum cross. 58Z is clean in her ilnes. Her neck comes
out of her shoulder most admirably. She is sound in her
tracking, softly striking the ground. Here is an individual
that could stand at the top of the class, as well as being the
front pasture kind.
Little Willow Creek Ranch has been raising Simmental and Simmental-Cross
cattle for forty years. We have seen the early days when Simmental
were showing many positive signs; that first cross on Hereford or Angus
cattle helped to change the cattle industry. We have seen the tough years
when some of the Simmental cattle needed to change and improve. We
try to remain focused on raising efficient, functional cattle with maternal
strength and good temperament. They have to be sound, and performance
needs to be measured. Our breed is known for maternal strength. We have
bred and sold Simmental Cross females for years. The market remains very
strong for these Simmental influenced cows. Our goals with our commercial-bred
cattle and our purebred cattle are the same; the cattle are bred for
consistency, as low maintenance as possible; but they need to be managed,
you get out of them what you put in them.
We have selected 6 bred heifers again this year. We hope they are bred
for longevity, with genetics to enhance a range of programs. We have been
very impressed with the quality of the Source cattle and the Mid-Western
Breeders cattle. These two sale offerings are very impressive, we really enjoy
being a part of these sales. As always it is about people, the folks consigning
to these sales are very proud of their product; it is very enjoyable
talking to these breeders, and learning more about our great breed.
We appreciate the bidders and buyers from the past couple years, and
thank them for the support. Thanks to Bouchard Livestock for organizing
this event. Please give us a call if there are any questions about our heifers.
Foxy is sired by an embryo transplant son purchased out of
Westway Farms program, who has done a nice job on his first
group of calves. 11Z comes from a young cow with a picture
perfect udder and an attractive blaze face. Foxy is a hairy dark
cherry red heifer who shows extreme length of body, good
thickness in a feminine angular package. This is probably the
most consistent cow family I have with the LFE 600L female
still producing. Buy with confidence as everything is locked
in with this special heifer.
Debra is a fancy-made black female that has the blaze face that
is growing in popularity. Her dam is a big volume female that
has a really nicely attached udder. The Westway bull has given
me some nice hairy, performance based calves that pushed the
scale down nicely at weaning. 26Z is moderate in her makeup,
feminine and has a great disposition. She is sure to produce
those stout, attractive black bulls that are becoming more and
more in demand. Debra should be an easy doing, productive
female for her new owners.
We would like to welcome everyone to the third annual Source
sale. In 2012 we bred around 140 females, with close to 100 being
Full Fleckvieh. The remainder either red factor or commercial. Our
goal has always been to improve what we already have and after
twenty years it remains the same. We sell only a handful of females
every year and our bulls are sold at Bull Fest in Camrose, the first
Friday of March. We look forward to your visit, whether it be at the
sale or at the farm.
This is probably the easiest heifer we have ever had to take a picture
of. Whatever way she stands, she still looks awesome. She’s
hard to fault whether it be color, thickness, depth or eye appeal.
She’s one of a kind.
We purchased a number of Jahari daughters at the MFI dispersal
to breed to Topnotch and the results have been very
consistent. Moderate-framed, well-pigmented and the females
are setting beautiful udders. This heifer has a strong
maternal pedigree with the likes of Western 36R, Metro,
