This course covers the basic features of<br />

the 2007 and 2010 Microsoft Office Suite<br />

programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,<br />

and Outlook. Students learn the basics as<br />

well as the workplace terminologies of each<br />

program. Functions covered include document<br />

set-up and formatting in Word; creating<br />

formulas in Excel; producing simple PowerPoint<br />

presentations; and managing e-mail in Outlook.<br />

functions of this spreadsheet software. Students<br />

will use the software’s accounting and finance<br />

applications to analyze and manage data,<br />

resulting in presentations that inform and<br />

enhance decision-making. The second half<br />

of the course focuses on Pivot Tables, a tool<br />

that allows the user greater freedom and new<br />

avenues for analysis and visualization of data<br />

that is useful for management reports.<br />

TAI CHI<br />

NCD929/3321-Simplified Tai Chi<br />

This course covers the 12 basic forms of<br />

Simplified Tai Chi, an ancient, yoga-like<br />

martial art that combines a comprehensive<br />

series of gentle physical movements,<br />

coordinated breathing, and meditation<br />

designed for health, flexibility, self-defense,<br />

and spiritual development. Tai Chi reduces<br />

stress, positively effects the nervous system,<br />

and improves cardio-respiratory fitness,<br />

strength, concentration, posture, balance, and<br />

coordination. The course includes screenings of<br />

Tai Chi videos. The second group of 12 forms<br />

will be covered in Part II.<br />

Designed to help students who have successfully<br />

completed “Beginning Swimming for Kids<br />

Level V,” this course enables student to refine<br />

the skills and competitive strokes required for<br />

participation on a swim team. Strokes include<br />

freestyle, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly,<br />

and skills include breathing and timing, body<br />

position, balance and motion, starts, and turns.<br />

Participants focus on swimming with ease,<br />

efficiency, power and smoothness over greater<br />

150-Hour Real Estate Brokers Program<br />

Career opportunities for licensed real estate<br />

brokers range from owning and operating a<br />

real estate office or managing the branch office<br />

of a real estate company to overseeing real<br />

estate operations for a corporation or working<br />

for a developer. To be eligible to apply for the<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> real estate broker examination,<br />

an individual must have worked as a licensed<br />

off-campus site at Harborside Financial Center<br />

Plaza 4A, 286 Washington Street, second<br />

away from the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail,<br />

Exchange Place PATH station, buses, and<br />

ferries. A parking garage in the building offers<br />

Licensing Course<br />

Approved by the <strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> Real Estate<br />

Commission, this course provides the required<br />

educational experience for individuals planning<br />

to take the State of <strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> Real Estate<br />

Salesperson’s (Agent) Licensing Examination<br />

and conforms with the Commission’s 75-hour<br />

course requirement. Course topics include<br />

principles of agency, real estate mathematics,<br />

and regulations required by the Real Estate<br />

Registration Information<br />

Enrollment is limited and will be accepted on a<br />

first-come, first-served basis.<br />

Registration, with full payment, must be completed at<br />

least one week prior to the first class session. Please<br />

note that registrations are not accepted by phone.<br />

Payment must be made by check, money order, or<br />

credit card (Discover, MasterCard or VISA) for the total<br />

cost of the course(s). Checks or money orders must be<br />

made payable to <strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Cash will<br />

not be accepted for payment.<br />

Team Registration<br />

A 10% discount is available to agencies sending three<br />

or more employees. (Please mail registrations together<br />

and deduct the discount from your payment).<br />

Enrollment Confirmation<br />

No confirmation will be sent. If not notified of a course<br />

cancellation, report directly to the indicated<br />

course location.<br />

Payment/Withdrawal/Refunds<br />

Full payment must be received by the registration deadline<br />

for each class. Non-attendance does not constitute<br />

a withdrawal. Refunds will not be made on this basis.<br />

Those wishing to receive a full refund must complete<br />

and submit a withdrawal form, available at the Office<br />

of Continuing Education, three days prior to the first<br />

class session. Those who do not drop a course three<br />

days prior to the first class session will incur a 50%<br />

charge of the course price.<br />

Cancellations<br />

The Office of Continuing Education reserves the right to<br />

cancel courses. Cancellations will be made one week<br />

prior to the first class session. In the event of a<br />

cancellation, those registered for the course will<br />

receive a 100% refund.<br />

Certificate Replacement<br />

<strong>New</strong> <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>University</strong> is not responsible for lost<br />

or stolen certificates. For a replacement, complete a<br />

certificate replacement form, available at the Office of<br />

Continuing Education. There is a $10.00 fee and a<br />

two-week waiting period for each<br />

certificate replacement.<br />
