Functions that Push DJ Sound to
the Limit
• Auto BPM Counter. Let the digital readout confirm
what you already know by ear. The Beat-Per-Minute
Counter measures the BPM of virtually all kinds of
dance music, enabling you to check the tempo at
a glance.
Linking widely differing types of music is easier
than ever with the Auto BPM Counter.
Pioneer's Auto BPM system enables automatic
synchronization between the beat count and your
desired effect.
Producing New Sounds and Effects
is easy with the DJM-500
• Delay. A single repeat of 1/2, 3/4, and 1/1 beat
music can be overlaid on a track. For example,
with 1/2 beat Delay, 4 beats will be increased to 8,
while using the 3/4 beat Delay produces a "leap
sound" effect.
• Echo. Repeatedly overlaying beats of 1/2, 3/4, and
1/1 is simple. Cutting in 1/1 beat Echo can create
an intriguing fade to the beat; applying it to the mic
allows microphone output to be reproduced
repeatedly to the same beat.

• Auto Pan. The left-right balance can be changed
automatically to the rhythm, as rapidly as you like.
Auto Pan can do rhythmic switches which are too
quick for human operators.
• Flanger. Switching to the Flanger effect produces
synthesiser tones quickly and easily at 1/2, 3/4,
1/1, 2/1, and 4/1 time. The Flanger works particularly
well in conjunction with a Seamless loop.
• Pitch Shifter. The Pitch Shifter corrects changes
in pitch, within a range of 1 octave, when using
analogue turntables or other vendor's CD players.
Used with the mic, the Pitch Shifter can alter voices.
• Reverb. A variety of reverberation effects are available.
• Send/Return. Your samplers and peripherals
are easily connected to the DJM-500 and Auto
BPM Counter.
• Effect On/Off. With one touch of the Effect On/Off
button, effects are linked to the rhythm.
• Beat Indicator. The Indicator lamps tell you when
the beat you want is linked to the Auto BPM.
• EQ for Each Channel. The DJM-500 features
3-band independent EQ for each channel, giving
you simple correction, emphasis, or even elimination,
of different sound characteristics.

specifically designed for today's professional club
performers. It answers all their needs and concerns,
so that they can focus 100% on what really matters;
their performance and interaction with the crowd.
Now there is absolutely no excuse for failing to exploit
all the advantages and creative possibilities of the
CD format.
The compact CDJ-500S incorporates all the good points
that made the CDJ-500II the reference for CD turntables.
It offers revolutionary and innovative features which
make it the standard in clubland.
• Anti-Vibration. The revolutionary oil-dampened floating
suspension prevents sound skipping, even when the
unit is subjected to impact during use or vibrations
from high music volume. The case also incorporates
a specially insulated disc compartment to withstand
the explosive sound pressure of club environments.
• Compact Design. The CDJ-500S's compact design
means that it will fit in any DJ booth, radio or
recording studio, no matter how small the available
space is. All controls are big and well laid out for
easy tactile operation.
• Easy Installation. The CDJ-500S can be mounted
at any angle up to 45° towards the DJ, for maximum
flexibility. What's more, putting two units together
gives you a standard 19" width; so they will fit in
standard industry racks. There's also an optional
installation bracket available, so the CDJ-500S will
fit in the most difficult locations.
• Headphone Output. The headphone output, with
volume control on the rear panel, allows you to
monitor the sound at any time and in any situation.

Design
• Sensitive Jog Dial. The extra large, quick-response
Jog Dial makes it very easy searching the music
frame-by-frame and selecting precise cue points.
The Jog Dial is also used to synchronize beats,
once having been matched, and to correct the Loop-
Out point in real-time. The degree of sensitivity gives
you a closer-to-vinyl (turntable) feel.

Auto Mix Play
This revolutionary function automatically enables two
tracks to be mixed together seamlessly at the push of a
button! Pioneer's original search system measures the
tracks' BPM and beat timing then automatically corrects
the tempos to the designated BPM, matches the beats
and cross fades creating a flawless, smooth mix - even
for tracks on a single disc that have different tempos.
Three Playback Modes:-
• Track Mode. Mixed playback alternating between tracks
from disc A and disc B.
• Disc Mode. Mixed playback of track on a single disc

Mix Mode Select:-

The CDJ-100S is a compact disc player designed for
use by DJs, combining the functions and operations
required for use in clubs with the unique features of
the CD medium.
• Digital Jog Break. Built-in Digital Jog Break for
Original Sound Creation. Each of three buttons
provides a different remix assist function (Jet, Zip,
Wah). By selecting the desired function and
controlling the Jog Dial to match the track selection
you can easily create new remix sounds.
• Slot In. The new disc loading slot mechanism
makes it fast and easy to play, change and remove
discs from the player. Discs are inserted directly,
without the need to open doors or trays, making
operation and track selection that much faster.

A CD turntable with endless sound creation and remix possibilities,
the CDJ-100S allows creative freedom to develop your own
individual style.

variable ranges: either ±10% (in 0.1% steps), or+10
to -16% (in 0.2% steps).
• Quick Start. Pressing the play button from the
standby mode produces instantaneous (0.01 second
or less) music start.
Normal CD players require up to 0.3 seconds from
the standby mode to the production of sound. The
quick start function virtually eliminates this time lag
making smoother track-to-track splices.
• Master Tempo. Changes music tempo without
changing pitch. With analogue systems, changing
track speed results in a change in pitch. Master
Tempo Control takes advantage of the unique features
of digital medium enabling track speed to be changed
with no deterioration of the original pitch.
• Playing Address. Analogue bar graph gives direct
indication of elapsed and remaining playing
time.This bar graph provides a direct visual readout
of the progress of the track playback, comparable
to the moving needle position on an analogue
record. The length of the bar gives the user
immediate knowledge of the current location on
the track and the flashing bar display warns that
the track is coming to an end.

• Auto Cue Function. Automatic by-passing of the
non-recorded part of track introductions, cueing the
track to a standby point immediately before sound
starts. This function allows instantaneous start of
playback when the Play button is pressed.
• Cue Point Sampler Function. Allows playing up to
ten minutes of sound from a preselected cue point.
This function is convenient for confirming a cue
point or creating a track sampler.
• Relay Play. Connecting two CDJ-100S decks. If
two units are connected, when playback of a track
comes to an end on one deck, standby mode on
the second deck is released instantly beginning

• Oil-damped Suspension. Oil-damped floating
suspension protects against vibrations and impacts.
The player has been designed with an oil-damped
floating suspension to prevent sound skipping even
when the unit is subjected to impacts during use or
floor-transmitted vibrations.
• Fader Start/Fader Back Cue Play. When the
CDJ-100S is used with the DJM-600, DJM-500 or
DJM-300 mixer, you can start the music by
increasing the Channel Fader (or sliding the Cross
Fader). Closing the Fader will return the CDJ-100S
to the designated cue point.
