Movax Side-Grip vibratory pile drivers
Movax Side-Grip is an effective solution for driving and extracting sheet
piles, H-piles, tubular steel piles and timber piles on various different
soil and site conditions. Side-Grips are available in different size classes
to meet wide range of piling requirements and match with different size
base machines.

Automatic Operating Device
Movax piling attachments can be installed on the most of standard
excavators in the market. Movax automatic control system links
the excavator and the attachment together. The system controls an
auxiliary hydraulics of the excavator and all functions of Movax. It also
monitors the pile driving process with inclination and pressure sensors.
This helps operator’s work and results in better efficiency and accuracy.

Hydraulic Piling Hammer
Movax IH-25 is excavator mounted piling hammer for driving load
bearing piles or assist in sheet pile driving in difficult soil conditions.
The double acting hydraulic ram works at high blow rate and produces
high impact energy. The control system provides essential ram energy
data.

Soil Drill
Movax Soil Drills are excavator mounted auger drive attachments
for cast in-situ piling and other earth drilling works. A hydraulically
operated telescopic kelly bar reaches up to 15 metres depth.

MODULAR SIDE-GRIP PILE DRIVERS
SG-50 / SG-60
Movax SG Side-Grip vibratory hammers with
variable or fixed eccentric moment are modular
and more flexible than other models. SG’s can
be fitted with purpose built sheet pile clamps
if your focus is on the sheets. Similarly it can
be equipped with clamps for tubular steel piles,
timber piles, H-piles and more.
Interchangeable Side-Grip arms make SG-50 / SG-60
vibros suitable for driving wide range of piles and sheet
piles. Optimised clamps are available for all common
sheet piles, tubular steel piles, H-piles, timber piles and
many other types of piles. Symmetric and wide opening
Side-Grip is ideal for fast and easy pile handling and
driving.
Efficient pile driving and extracting is essential feature
of Movax SG. Its overall geometry is designed for
transferring the driving energy to the pile. The clamping
force is adjustable for different kind of piles. Automatic
control system is helping an operator to achieve accurate
pile installation.
Advanced lubrication system keeps SG vibros running
longer. High capacity oil pumps with external oil reservoir
keeps the temperature of bearings lower and results in
longer continuous driving periods.
Simple and strong mechanical solutions are standing
for durability and easy maintenance. Movax SG-50 and
SG-60 vibratory pile drivers are built of strong modular
parts that last long and are easy to replace. The same
principle applies through§out the machine, from pile
clamps to tilting and rotating mechanism.
Movax SG can be fitted onto crawler and wheel excavators
and railroaders. Reasonable low weight of SG
models allows a stabile use with wide selection of base
machines. Its hydraulic system is made to work on standard
excavator with normal auxiliary hydraulics.
Variable eccentric versions SG-50V and SG-60V.
These high frequency Side-Grip vibros are also available
with variable eccentric moment for resonance free
operation. Disturbance to an environment is minimised by
operating at high frequency and avoiding an oscillation of
the soil and surrounding structures.

MODULAR SIDE-GRIP PILE DRIVERS
SG-25 / SG-30 / SG-40
Movax SG-25, SG-30 and SG-40 are medium
size Side-Grip, high frequency vibratory hammers.
Interchangeable clamping system adapts
for sheet piles, tubular steel piles, H-piles and
timber piles.
The Side-Grip clamps can be quickly changed
on the connection surface enabling easy swap
from sheet piles or H-beams to round steel or
timber piles. Biggest diameter of tubular pile is
457 mm. Adjustable gripping force ensures a
firm and safe grip without damaging the pile.
Reliability, safety and user-friendliness are
the basis of the design. Light weight (1200kg)
design makes handling of this unit easier also
with wheel excavators, railroad vehicles and
even some of the biggest backhoes.
Automatic control system of the excavator
keeps the pile vertical or, if required, inclined
to certain angle. Alternatively, manual control
device is available.

MLR-15
Leader mounted Side-Grip piler
Movax MLR-15 is vibratory pile driver with Side-
Grip clamps for small diameter steel piles, timber
piles or H-beams. MLR-15 is designed for
solar panel foundations and other applications
were high accuracy in positioning and verticality
is important. The same unit is also suitable
for installing raked piles to any required angle.
MLR-15 combines the pile handling capabilities
of Side-Grip piler with leader guided linear push
and pull.
Movax MLR-15 can drive light piles with Side-
Grip clamping the pile close to the ground and
thus avoiding a buckling of the otherwise flexible
pile. Bolt-on type clamps are available in different
sizes up to 300 mm in diameter or shape
to match other pile sections.
MLR-15 can be fitted onto most standard midi to
medium size excavators. Easy installation of its
control system allows use of rental excavator.
ML-10 / ML-15
Movax ML-10 and ML-15 are thoroughbred Side-
Grip vibratory pile drivers in matching scale for
mini and midi excavators from 5 to 8 ton. This
unit features bolt-on type changeable clamps
that are available for wide variety of different
pile and sheet pile sections. Plastic and composite
sheets, trench sheets, micro piles and timber
piles are all driveable with this Side-Grip vibro.
Movax ML is especially useful tool on landscaping
projects, when working on a barge on waterfront
jobs or any place with limited access or
sensitive environment.

SIDE-GRIP SHEET PILE DRIVERS
Movax Side-Grip vibratory hammer is a very productive excavator mounted pile driver
and extractor. The same unit can handle, pitch and drive the sheet piles. It is capable to
accomplish the whole pile driving process without need of manual handling of the piles or assisting
machinery.
The Side-Grip combined with the excavator is an effective solution for pile driving on most sites
from open areas to confined spaces or limited headroom. An advanced Auto C control system
makes the operating accurate and easier. Movax stands for high productivity, safety and low
operating costs.

From 25 to 40 ton
SP – series Side-Grip vibratory hammers are proven
technology for sheet pile installation. The high
frequency vibro is fast, accurate and safe method
and suitable for driving sheet piles into variety of
different soils. Its Side-Grip is capable of clamping
most common U- and Z-section sheet piles. These
pilers can be alternatively fitted with clamps for
small diameter tubular steel piles up to 325 mm.
SP-70F4 is one of the strongest excavator mounted
vibros and require from 33 to 40 ton excavator.
SP-50F and SP-60F are working on base machines
from 22 to 30 ton making them preferred choice for
many contractors.
SPH-75
SPH-80
From 25 to 40 ton
SPH-80 is sharing the Side-Grip geometry with SP –
series but differs from other with its directed vibro
technology. Directional hitting reduces ground vibration
to a lower level than in the same size conventional
vibratory driver. Side-Grip arms can be fitted
with small diameter tubular pile clamps up to 325 mm
diameter. SPH-80 is designed to work on 33 to 40 ton
base machines.

SIDE-GRIP PILE DRIVERS FOR TUBULAR PILES
Driven tubular piles, casings, wood piles and stone columns are some examples of applications for
Movax Tube Driver. The side gripping vibro driver has found its way to various site environments
including rail, marine and general construction.
Tube Driver utilises the side grip clamps to lift and rotate the pile to driving location. Secure grip
keeps the tube in control during driving and AutoC control system enables fast and accurate piling
work.
Movax Tube Driver has been also successfully used as assisting machine before finishing with a
drop hammer or a bigger vibro. Superior handling added with a capability to pre-drive the pile
increases productivity.
SP-70F4W
From 25 to 40 ton
SP-70F4W Side-Grip vibratory pile driver is capable
of clamping the piles up to 720 mm in diameter. Its
field proven high frequency vibratory technology is
inherited from SP-70F4 sheet piler version. Additional
clamps are available for all standard tube
piles smaller than 720mm. SP-70WF4 is also suitable
for timber piles.

SPH-80W
From 25 to 40 ton
SPH-80W is a tube driver based on the
technology of SPH-80 sheet piler. Its
Side-Grip is specially shaped for gripping
tubular piles.
SPH-80W can pick, lift, locate, drive and
extract tubes up to 630 mm in diameter.
With an additional top hitter on the bottom
jaw of the tube driver also the very
last meter of the pile can be driven.

ACCESSORIES
ADAPTERS
Adapter plate is needed for connecting the Movax
equipment to different excavators or other carrier
machines. Adapters are tailored for different pin
connectors and all common quick coupler systems.
TUBULAR PILE CLAMPS FOR
SHEET PILERS (SP, SPH)
Standard tube clamps sizes are available in diameters
60 mm, 90 mm, 115 mm, 140 mm, 170
mm, 190 mm and 220mm. Basic tube clamp size
(also the biggest) is dia 220 mm. Other sizes are
combinations of the basic clamp (220 mm) and a
reducing part 220-190, 220-170, 220-140, 220-
115, 220-90 or 220-60.
POWER PACK
Power Pack provides extra oil flow for the excavator
and thus allows the excavator to be used with
a bigger Movax model than without it. For example
smaller than 30 ton excavator can be suitable
for SP-70F4 with Power-pack. Movax Power Pack
is fitted onto the excavator and shares hydraulic
oil tank and diesel tank of the base machine.

TRAINING AND INSTALLATION
Operating with Movax is challenging itself –not to mention when aiming to achieve the best performance.
As Movax is a unique machine, every operator has to be well trained to its use. When installing
Movax equipment to base machines, service engineers provide customer with the required operator
training. We also offer operator or maintenance training at Movax Oy´s premises in Hämeenlinna,
Finland. These technical and practical training programmes can be tailored to meet contractor’s requirement

AUTOMATIC OPERATING DEVICE
Excavator operator has a challenging job to drive
a pile vertically by keeping the pile on the linear
movement. This requires the control of three
different movements of boom, stick and bucket
cylinder simultaneously. At the same time the angle
of the pile is very difficult to see from the cabin of
the excavator as a side view of the pile cannot be
directly seen.
Movax automatic operating device is developed to
solve the problem. The main principle is that the
operator controls one movement and computer
controlled system takes care of the two remaining
movements. This results to a linear movement of
the pile.
Working cycle with Auto Steering

Piling Hammer
IH-25D
From 24 to 40 ton
Movax IH-25d is an excavator mounted piling
hammer for driving sheet piles, tubular steel
piles, H-piles and pre-cast concrete piles. As a
big drop hammer, though still compact in design,
it finalizes pile driving even at difficult ground
conditions. Movax IH is easy to hook on as there
are adapters available for all common quick release
coupling models. All controls of Movax IH,
such as hitting on/off, hitting energy and tilt left/
right and following of pile are easily managed by
Movax Automatic operating system. Auto C display
shows also the angle and distance, which
can be controlled by Auto C or manually. Auto C
displays a realised ram energy after every hit.

Soil Drill
TAD-30
TAD-30S
Movax Soil Drills are excavator mounted
auger drive attachments for cast in-situ piling
and other earth drilling works. A technology
behind the efficiency is a hydraulically
operated telescopic kelly bar with two
extendable sections on TAD-30 and one longer
extension on TAD-30S.
Movax TAD works well in confined spaces still
good on reaching over obstacles. Telescopic
design keeps the machine low and allows
working on sites with limited headroom
without compromising on drilling depth.
