Specialty industries
Neozapon ® dyes are metal-complex dyes in powder form that are
readily soluble in alcohols, glycols, esters and ketones. Regarding
fastness to light, they belong to the top group of dyes. They are free
from extenders and reducers. Neozapon ® dyes are suitable for
various technologies and applications.
Neozapon ® dyes are suitable for office supplies: all color shades
can be used for the manufacture of alcohol-based felt- and fiber-tip
inks. The Neozapon ® dyes marked with double points in the table
“Applications and fastness to light” are suitable for ball-point pastes
because of their solubility in phenyl glycol and benzyl alcohol.

Printing inks industry
Neozapon ® Red 365, Neozapon ® Blue 807 and Neozapon ®
Black X 55 in particular are used in solvent-based ink-jet inks.
Neozapon ® Red 335 and Neozapon ® Red 355 are suitable for
masking films for the graphics industry. Neozapon ® dyes can
also be applied in finishes for glass coatings.
The high transparency and high standard of fastness of Neozapon ® dyes
make them ideal for use in flexographic and gravure inks for printing on
aluminum foil and metallized plastic films. Because of their good solubility
in alcohols, esters and ketones, the Neozapon ® dyes can be used in
inks based on either cellulose nitrate or a PVC copolymer.

Coatings industry
The main applications for Neozapon ® dyes in coatings are furniture
stains, transparent finishes and effect finishes. The criteria for
selecting suitable dyes are solubility, fastness to light and overspraying,
and – for stoving finishes – heat resistance. Combining
Neozapon ® dyes with aluminum pigments or other effect pigments
opens up numerous possibilities for designing bicycle, motor-cycle
and other effect finishes. Coatings that are particularly fast to
weathering are obtained when Neozapon ® Yellow 157, Neozapon ®
Orange 245 and Neozapon ® Red 471 are applied together with
high-grade binders under a clear coat containing UV absorbers.

Fastness properties
The fastness obtained depends on the system in which the dyes
are applied. The fastness properties should always be tested by
the user under plant conditions. Detailed information is given in
