Weather watch
Waikato Regional Council
is warning rain is likely to
cause flooding of the Waipa
River.
The warning follows heavy
rain since Sunday and it’s
expected the rain could cause
a once-in-20-year flood event.
Flood plains around the
Waipa and west coast
waterways are expected to be
saturated, while surface
flooding in many areas is
predicted.
Farmers in those areas are
urged to keep up to date on
water levels and move stock to
higher ground if necessary,
while residents are advised
that local roads could be
affected by flooding and slips.
Everyone is keen to know
who won the huge Powerball
prize (article right) in the
But another large Lotto
prize is also still waiting to be
claimed.
won one of the 10 Audi A1s.
So start hunting through
IS IT YOU? Kihikihi Bookshop owners Young and Susie Yeo are waiting to see who won $5.5 million in Lotto and Powerball from a ticket they
sold.
BY DEAN TAYLOR
There’s just one question on
everyone’s mind this week — who
has won the $5.5 million Powerball
First Division prize with a ticket
from Kihikihi Bookshop.
The win is the biggest in the
area since Lotto began and also
takes Kihikihi Bookshop to the top
of the major money stakes.
It is also the first time in Lotto
history that we have had a Lotto
millionaire — previous winnings
have all been under the one million
dollar mark, or in one case was
$1.38 million, but shared four ways.
Bookshop owners Young and
Susie Yeo were woken to the news
on Sunday by New Zealand Herald
reporter James Ihaka.
The couple have owned the
store just over two years, but as
Kihikihi locals of 10 years are
hoping it is one of their regulars
who won.
Mr Yeo says it is hard to
imagine how much money $5.5
million is.
‘‘Hopefully it is going to someone
who needs it and who will
spend it wisely,’’ he says.
Mrs Yeo says people coming in
to the store are all asking the same
question — has it been claimed yet.
As of going to print the answer
was no.
NZ Lotteries confirm the prize
has not been claimed — nor do they
expect that to happen in Kihikihi.
Communications advisor Victoria
Barton-Chapple says people
in smaller centres usually check
their ticket out of town, or like last
week’s winners, come to the Wellington
headquarters.
NZ Lotteries chief executive
Wayne Pickup says last week a
couple won $6.5 million, flew to
Wellington and caught the bus to
their office to collect their prize.
The Kihikihi winner will be the
sixth Powerball multi-millionaire
to be created in 2012 — and the 95th
Powerball winner since it was
introduced in 2001.’’
The Yeos say if it is a local
winner it will be good reward for
the loyalty of Kihikihi residents
who shop in the village.
Previously under their ownership
the biggest win was a local
woman who won a Mercedes Benz
valued at over $100,000 in a
Mother’s Day draw.
Under previous owners there
were three Lotto winners.
Paper Plus Te Awamutu has
had the most Lotto winners —
eight since 1992, and Pak’N Save,
Video Ezy and Lotto and Fresh
Choice have all had one winner.
No to Cambridge pool
Setting up trusts to raise
funds for pools is nothing new.
That is how the Te Awamutu
Events Centre funds were
raised.
Most people will remember
when that was built the
trustees did not raise nearly
sufficient funds for it and the
Council did not sell enough
assets to fund it, so the balance
of funds were raised by
borrowing.
Despite my many requests,
then as a councillor and person
responsible, I was never told
how much extra borrowing
there was or who authorised it.
The trustees were simply
thanked for their splendid job
and the events centre was built
and the debt became part of the
pool of debt the WDC has.
At the time I suggested a
longer time frame so that those
who were fundraising could
meet their earlier promises.
Te Awamutu had a town
hall fund that was tipped in to
the project. In reality the project
was, and still is, a disaster
but those that wanted a pool
got one at the expense of others
and a management company
got a free job worth $200K per
year, a free business.
Now we have a situation
where a minority in Cambridge
want another pool and
they have failed to meet their
agreed fundraising target. The
WDC have employed professional
fund raisers to raise
funds, however that produced
a substantial loss of about
$200K and I understand the
WDC have spent about $2
million on plans and dreams.
Apparently they then voted
to ‘can’ the whole
thing due to lack of funds.
Amazing that they finally
found it in them to be brave.
The pool proponents have
however tried to come back
with this trust malarkey.
They, including the Cambridge
councillors, seem to not
understand what the word no
means. It is sad that they have
been let down.
The rumour is that, if they
supported the velodrome,
those who wanted that would
support them with money for a
pool but it did not happen. A
sort of gentlemen’s rip off.
As the Council have voted
against a pool in Cambridge,
that should be the end of the
matter.
The Council CEO Mr Dyet
now has no entitlement to put
anything further on the
agenda regarding a Cambridge
pool until such time as the
Cambridge people can firstly
decide what they want and
then show that they can raise
the required funds.
JAMES PARLANE
GST has to be listed in quote by tradesmen
In the ‘What’s Hot, What’s
Not’ column last Thursday a
correspondent complained
about tradesmen who quote
for a job but do not include
GST.
He or she should be aware
that if a quote is received and
makes no mention of GST,
then that is all you are legally
required to pay.
To add it on later is a
breach of the Fair Trading
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Act and quite illegal. If this
happens, pay only the amount
of the quote.
If you have already paid it,
claim it back from the tradesman
and, if they refuse, take it
to the Disputes Tribunal for a
refund.
They will have little patience
with the tradesman.
If you are asking for a
quote, always get it in writing
to save arguments later on the
amount, and whether it was a
firm quote or an estimate.
This is from Consumer
magazine’s website:
‘If GST is not included in a
quote or advertised price, this
must be made clear. If it isn’t,
you can argue that you should
just pay the figure quoted.
Companies which have
advertised prices that do not
include GST, and not made
this clear, have been
World gown glory for
Arohena dressmaker
BY DEAN TAYLOR
When 16-year-old
Aucklander Aleisha
Robertson recently took
out the Miss T.E.E.N. title
in Houston, Texas, no one
was more excited than
Arohena’s Judy Board.
Mrs Board is not only
director of judges for
Pageants of New Zealand,
but she had made the evening
gown Aleisha wore in
the final from material purchased
in Te Awamutu —
and that gown was also a
winner.
Aleisha is the current
Miss Teen New Zealand,
and by winning the Photogenic,
Evening Gown and
overall Miss T.E.E.N. title
picked up prizes including
a $5000 Crown Couture,
hair products, cosmetics,
shoes, jewellery, website
promotions, media training
and a Barclay College
scholarship . . . and lots
more.
It also means Mrs Board
is the first New Zealander
to win an Evening Gown
title at an international
pageant according to
Pageants of New Zealand
founder Dianne Foley.
Mrs Board says she has
always been a dressmaker,
learning as a child from
her mother.
She says her parents
were conservative, so if she
wanted something fashionable
she had to make it
herself.
Her pocket money
always went on fabric.
In her adult life she
sewed for herself and her
family.
She says it has changed
so much now — clothes are
cheap and then they get
thrown out.
Mrs Board has been in
Arohena seven years and
owns JAK Farms which is
run run by her son-in-law
and daughter, Alan and
TC170712DT01
DRESSMAKER Judy Board made the gown which Miss T.E.E.N. Aleisha Robertson
(bottom of page) wore in the final of the international event. She is pictured with the
jacket she is now making for Pageants of New Zealand founder Dianne Foley.
Karina Belfield.
She got involved in
pageants not though her
interest in fashion, but
through sport.
Mrs Board has played
representative hockey for
years and is a member of
the New Zealand masters
team.
Mrs Foley is also a
representative player of
longstanding, and the pair
met and became friends at
masters level.
Both are guest members
of the NSW/Victoria masters
team that will play in
the PanPacs and then
World Masters Games in
Turin.
Mrs Board became
involved in the pageants
and is now director of
judges.
She says it is great for
the girls, and a far cry from
the beauty pageants of old.
She believes they are
good for the confidence and
future careers of the girls
who enter and she loves
being involved.
When Mrs Foley also
found out her friend was a
dressmaker she was
‘‘told’’ she would be making
the evening gown for
Miss Teen New Zealand.
Mrs Board had a piece
of material she had purchased
for a jacket for
herself from Stichin’ Stuff
that she immediately
thought would be perfect.
She asked owner
Teresa Reymer if she
could get more, and she
obliged.
Mrs Board had definite
ideas about the dress,
which she designed and
made.
The fabric is a maroon
and pewter stretch with
black lace overlay.
It changes in the light
and hangs beautifully.
Mrs Board says too
many dresses are made
from fabrics that are too
figure hugging, and show
every strap and bump.
‘‘Aleisha is quite a
modest girl, this material
hugs her figure without
showing too much,’’ says
Mrs Board.
She designed a fish tail
train to make it flow, but
that would be easy to walk
in and wouldn’t need to be
lifted to negotiate stairs.
A built-in bra and fitted
bone sides hold everything
in place.
The thoughtfulness
obviously paid off as it
was reported Aleisha
looked stunning.
Mrs Board has already
had requests from a few
girls in the know to design
and make ball gowns and
graduation dresses, but at
present is putting the
finishing touches to
another special creation.
She is making a jacket
for her friend Dianne to
wear to a Nutrimetics conference
overseas.
■ Pageants of New Zealand has a number of events this year
including Miss Teen and Miss Hamilton on September 15. Any
Chance to challenge yourself
BY CATHY ASPLIN
Te Awamutu Volunteer Fire Brigade’s first
Firefighter Challenge held in April was so successful
that another is being staged later this month.
Spokesperson Chris Bestwick says planning is well
underway.
‘‘We have over 40 firefighters, both volunteer and
paid, from around the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and
Auckland areas who have entered. Ten from our own
brigade will be competing — including our Chief Fire
Officer Ian Campbell.’’
The challenge on July 28 will kick off at 9am and
finish around 4pm.
‘‘The day begins with individual runs, then tandem
and team events. The finals will be staged in the
afternoon.
‘‘The event is a chance for us to show people what
else we do in the Fire Service — as they probably only
see us racing up and down the main street attending
incidents.
‘‘For Te Awamutu firefighters it is a great chance to
pit our skills against others and the clock.’’
The Te Awamutu Firefighter Challenge requires
entrants to wear full firefighting gear while they
complete a set list of tasks.
These include climbing a tower carrying a hose,
hoisting a coil three storeys, driving a beam with a shot
hammer, using a hose to knock down a disk and
dragging a dummy backwards for the last 30m.
Te Awamutu firefighter Hamish Doohan tried the
challenge for the first time in April and says it a was a
great experience.
He already had a high level of fitness in readiness for
the Sky City Firefighter Challenge (which he competed
in a impressive time of 11 minutes) so it was a matter of
training on the course.
‘‘We trained for several Sundays before the event
which helped me get used to the demands of the event.
‘‘I took part in the individual, tandem, team and
relay events during the day.
‘‘It was good fun, but those last few metres dragging
the dummy are probably the toughest, I was knackered
at that stage.’’
While he won’t be here to compete in the challenge
on July 28, he plans to compete in an event later in the
year.
‘‘This course is very similar to the Firefighter
Combat Challenge, so it’s a great way to test yourself. I
encourage others to give it a go.’’
■ Te Awamutu Firefighter Challenge begins at 9am on
Saturday, July 28. Best viewing from carpark behind public
library (entrance off Redoubt Street).
Waipa district plan unveiled
CKL concerned at level of Council control
CKL commends Waipa District
Council staff on the new
proposed District Plan which sets
out the rules by which any
development within the Waipa
District must abide over the next
10 years.
With origins dating back at
least 50 years in the region, CKL
Planning, Surveying, Engineering
is, however, concerned at the
level of controls and the amount
of restrictions the council is
proposing to introduce for any
form of land use or development.
The challenges facing all district
plan reviews throughout
New Zealand has brought a new
awareness of the need to protect
quality soils for their best utilisation
— in the Waipa and Waikato
that is of course dairying.
CKL endorses this philosophy in
principal; however, the company
is concerned that the proposed
changes to the rules will
ultimately restrict growth in the
district.
Experience shows us that
more red tape, more controls and
more restrictions tend to bring
associated higher time input and
therefore higher costs. CKL
already are finding that land
owners are shying away because
the economics of a project just
don’t ‘stack up’.
Two rural subdivision rules
that Waipa District Council currently
have, which are destined
to be removed, are the ‘Long
Association Holding’(LAH) rule
and the ‘Surplus Dwelling’ rule.
Council maintain that these
smaller lot rural subdivisions
have led to ‘ribbon development’
and fragmentation and cite the
Kaipaki district as being an
example of this.
Kay Carter
Branch Manager
Associate
Jonathan Gwyn
CKL Survey
Manager
CKL disagrees. Kaipaki is an
example of a vibrant district with
diversification of land use into
blueberries, nurseries, horse
studs/agistment, cafes and hot
houses, being just some of the
activities bringing character and
opportunity to the district for
greater employment and revenue
from other sources.
The LAH rule allows for someone
who has owned and worked
on their land for at least 15 years,
to subdivide out a lot around
their existing dwelling or a small
piece of bare land no greater than
5000m 2 on which to build a new
home for themselves. This
enables retirement on the family
holding, but with title separate to
that of the farm. There is also has
a social benefit to the farming
community in that retiring
farmers are able to stay in the
district and provide their
ongoing wisdom and support to
the family farm and surrounds.
Statistics apparently reveal that
50 per cent of these LAH titles are
onsold and the assumption
follows that the farmer has
‘milked the system’, creating the
title for capital gain. However,
the stats probably do not analyse
who bought the title.
The social ‘association with
the district’ aspect is a consideration
which seems to have been
overlooked with the proposed
removal of this rule.
The Surplus Dwelling rule
allows subdivision into a separate
title of a farm house or cottage
that, perhaps because of
advances in technology, is no
longer required for the extra
farm worker. This rule does
allow the farmer to sell off that
surplus asset and generate some
capital to plough back into the
farm. Of course it also provides
for a ‘lifestyler’ to live in and
enjoy a rural environment.
The Urban Subdivision rules
are being altered under the guise
of ‘protecting the rural nature’ of
our town. CKL recalls that Council
had that same philosophy at
the last review ten years ago and
believe the current rules have
been working well in this regard.
Council now propose to put
the average size of sections in
town up from a 400m 2 minimum
to 500m, 2 whilst also introducing
an average of 600m 2 for three or
more lots and a maximum size of
800m 2 , net of any access.
These rules will inhibit infill
housing as there are few sections
available in Te Awamutu of a size
to meet the area criteria. This
criteria seems incongruent when
we have a large demographic of
aging population who will no
doubt create a demand for
smaller sections and town house
living in the near future.
Council has gone some way to
addressing the future need for
housing by introducing some
areas of town to be designated for
high density dwelling, which is
applaudable. The challenge here
for Council is to choose areas
which take into account land
stability, vehicular access, distance
from town , availability of
services reticulation and land
which is fit for purpose.
The proposed increase of the
average size of an urban section
restricts the possibility of fully
utilising the land now within the
town boundaries. This puts the
onus for the future growth of Te
Awamutu squarely on the shoulders
of three to four private
landowners whose land borders
the town’s boundaries. These
‘growth cells’ have been identified
in Council’s structure plan
and designated for development
from 2012 to 2025. With Council’s
Development Contribution fee
for each new section created
currently sitting at $24,079,
coupled with high costs of roading
and reticulation of services,
developers seem currently not
interested.
Whilst CKL appreciates the
huge amount of planning and
forethought that has gone into
the creation of the proposed
District Plan, they are concerned
that the growth of Te Awamutu
will not be as Council forecast if
all the proposed new rules are
implemented. The bottom line is
that any predictions and budgets
based on revenue to Council
provided by on-going development
in the district may fall well
short if restrictive rules introduced
are growth retardant and
if no-one can afford to do it.
LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Electioneering seems to have begun
Pat Bishop’s letter ‘Answer Sought on
Amalgamation Stance’ of July 10 would
seem to indicate that electioneering is
already underway for the council elections
in just over a year.
Firstly, Cr Wilson’s notice of motion to
discuss amalgamation of councils was not
accepted by the committee chairman as per
appropriate meeting procedures. That
decision had nothing to do with the poor
wording of the motion or the sending of
‘‘wrong messages’’, but was entirely on the
basis of standing orders.
Secondly, Mr Bishop seems to infer that
I’m doing some deal with other councils
without the knowledge of my Waipa council.
This is totally incorrect.
For the record, I don’t support amalgamation
for Waipa District. Why would I
when Waipa is the best district in New
Zealand? While Waipa is the Home of
Champions, it is also a Champion Home. As
well, Janet and I have given our total
commitment to our district over the past 17
years and I don’t see why others should cash
in on the special Waipa that has been built.
But, having said that, you can’t keep your
head in the sand as Messrs Bishop and
Wilson would want. Refer back to 1989 and
Te Awamutu and Cambridge Boroughs and
Waipa County were all doing a good job. But
the Local Government Commission determined
that there should be amalgamation
nationwide and from that evolved Waipa
District.
With the current review of local government
there is a strong likelihood that the
Local Government Commission will again
be given strong powers to carry out amalgamations.
Therefore, Waipa has to keep an
open mind and ensure that if there is any
change forced it is on our terms rather than
us being dictated to.
In the meantime the Waikato Mayoral
Forum, which CE Garry Dyet also attends,
is working towards Waikato councils operating
more cost effectively by collaborating
and investigating the sharing of services
including roading, planning, water and
waste water.
Integral to this it has been agreed by all
mayors that discussions of amalgamation
are not on the agenda.
Importantly, no commitment will be
made by me as mayor. All shared services
are being investigated by the mayors and
their CEs but, democratically, any decisions
will be made by each and every council.
ALAN LIVINGSTON
Waipa District mayor
Threat to democracy
Pat Bishop, in his recent Courier letter,
asks WDC Mayor, Mr Livingston, his stance
on the amalgamation issue. The word
amalgamation rings alarm bells.
Because we are living under capitalism
words as: amalgamation, biggest, mega,
greatest and super etc are popular. For
under capitalism, property is concentrated
in the hands of the few.
Likewise, ruling groups such as local
body councils amalgamate with other
councils, giving power to the hands of the
few.
The abolition of property is the beginning
of slavery. Capitalism concentrates
property, and power, in the hands of the few.
Communism confiscates it all under the
name of — the collectivity. All of these
smack at democracy.
It is time that we all, especially those in
authority, remembered history for we can
learn valuable lessons from it and hopefully,
avoid mistakes of the past.
In view of the above I am interested to
know what our mayor and what others have
to say on the current amalgamation issue.
Waikato are the defending
Wisden Cup national champions.
They are gunning for a three-peat
this year after winning in 2010, for
the first time in 37 years, and
defending the title last year.
The team are captained by TJ
Kids gain sports
skills in holidays
Children flocked to Te
Awamutu’s KiwiSport Holiday Programme
based at the Events Centre
over the July school holidays.
Sports featured included badminton,
netball, squash, martial arts and
cricket, along with Energize Games.
Each sport was run by a
KiwiSport officer who provided
coaching and an opportunity for the
children to learn about each of the
sports with a practical element
included.
The intention was for children to
gain new skills and experience a new
sport as a potential option for the
future.
A bonus for children attending
was to participate in a netball module
run by KiwiSport Netball officer
Rachel Beale, while also observing a
Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball
squad training session.
‘‘It is hoped that this opportunity
may trigger interest and inspire
young people to take up or continue
to play the sport of netball,’’ says
Waipa District sports co-ordinator
Jude Till.
The programme catered to 5- to
12-year-olds, with approximately 80
children attending daily.
Sport Waikato Team Energize’s
Anton Barr, Garth Thomas and
Tracey Fleming provided lots of
games and activities as an extra
option due to the large numbers of
children attending.
In preparation for the holiday
programme and other voluntary
opportunities, local young leaders
from the Waipa district were offered
the opportunity to attend a
KiwiSport leadership training day
in association with the Waikato
Institute for Leisure and Sport
Studies (WILSS) held at the Kaipaki
Hall and Sports Centre.
The programme is designed to
help young leaders to gain experience,
develop confidence and learn
and build on their practical leadership
skills to be used for future
involvement working with groups of
young people in their communities.
‘‘This is exactly the links we
would like to see being made
between a range of stakeholders and
the provision of opportunities for
our local young people,’’ says Till.
Ariana inspired by Ferns star
BY COLIN THORSEN
Rising Te Awamutu netball star Ariana Cable-Dixon
is keen to follow in the footsteps of her idol Laura
Langman.
The 18-year-old wing-attack/centre has set her sights
on making the New Zealand team to contest the World
Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow in August,
2013.
Cable-Dixon says she takes heart from the fact that
Langman captained the triumphant New Zealand U21
side at the 2005 World Youth Championships in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida.
That same year Langman made her international test
debut as a 19-year-old for the Silver Ferns against
England.
‘‘Laura’s inspirational,’’ says Cable-Dixon. ‘‘She’s a
country girl from Te Pahu, showing everyone that you
don’t have to be from the ‘big smoke’ to make your mark
as a netballer at the highest level.
‘‘It gives us girls from the country hope that, with a
lot of hard work, we can make it into the national
teams.’’
Cable-Dixon was one of the star members of the
Waikato under-19 team, crowned 2012 champions at the
recent New Zealand Age Grade Championships in
Auckland.
Wintec Waikato accounted for North 36-28 in the final
to secure the national title.
They won a thrilling semifinal encounter against
Auckland 1 33-32.
Waikato’s three standout players, Cable-Dixon,
Tamsin Moala and Allysha Taurima, were all named in
the U19 tournament team.
Cable-Dixon was rested on the first day of the
tournament after rolling her ankle playing for Allied in
the Hamilton premier club competition. She played in all
six remaining games (two each day), including the
semifinal and final, impressing all and sundry.
New Zealand U21 coach, Janine Southby told Cable-
Dixon that she liked what she saw of her at the nationals.
‘‘I couldn’t believe it when I was approached by the
Southern Steel co-coach, saying she wants to see more of
me in action.’’
Southby invited her to participate in the NZU21 trials
at the weekend in North Shore.
She can’t be selected for the NZU21 team to play
Australia in Melbourne next month because she’s too
young, but her chances of selection to go to Glasgow next
year appear bright.
Magic assistant coach, Rebecca Cabel has also invited
the promising Te Awamutu mid-courter to trial for the
Trust Waikato team she coaches.
Junior rugby players impress Foster
BY COLIN THORSEN
It’s not every day that Te
Awamutu rugby players get to
rub shoulders with All Blacks
and Waikato ITM Cup coaches.
All Blacks assistant coach Ian
Foster and Waikato coach Chris
Gibbes ran coaching clinics at Te
Awamutu College, organised by
Te Awamutu
Rugby coordinator
Deon Muir
during the
school
holidays.
Foster was
most
impressed
with the skill
set of the
players who
participated.
The former
Ian Foster
Te Awamutu Sports, Waikato
and Chiefs player/coach told the
College coaches and players that
the last time he had visited, the
school was struggling to field
one team, now there are six up
and running.
‘‘You’ve got some excellent
coaches here all wanting to help
you, make the most of it by
listening to what they’ve got to
Foster worked with the backs,
focussing on encouraging them
to become good at the skills that
make moves work — enabling
them to catch and pass under all
sorts of situations.
He covered the likes of
creation and exploitation of
space, vision, handling and
decision making, passing skills,
as well as core skills in team
play, including runner calls.
Gibbes took the forwards,
assisted by Waikato rugby
development officer Alf Daniels.
The pair worked primarily on
players picked up on everything
so quickly. ‘‘There attitude was
outstanding.’’
rugby coaching clinics, in all,
during the school holidays —
two for College students and one
for Te Awamutu Intermediate
Pumpkins playing Vector
The Smashing Pumpkins
are returning to Auckland’s
vector Arena on Saturday,
August 4 for a much anticipated
one off show and we
are giving you the chance to
win a copy of their latest
album Oceania to help celebrate
the occasion.
It’s a fine body of work
and you only need to tap into
track 10 — The Chimera —to
see that Billy is back to his
brilliant best — it’s a ripper
of a rock song and will have
you amping and pumped and
ready for the upcoming
show.
Other standout tracks
that have been turning heads
at recent shows include
Quasar, Panopticon, Oceania,
The Celestials, Pinwheels and
Pale Horse.
For this special headline
performance, The Smashing
Pumpkins will be debuting a
unique stage design in New
Zealand created to reflect the
visual themes to go along
with the full presentation of
the new album, as well as
playing plenty of classic
Pumpkins catalogue.
The pivotal group’s many
hits such as Today, Bullet
With Butterfly Wings, 1979,
Zero, Tonight, Tonight, Ava
Adore, Siamese Dream,
Mellon Collie And The Infinite
Sadness, Tarantula,
Doomsday Clock and That’s
The Way (My Love Is) are but
a few of the instantly recognisable
Pumpkins catalogue
that defined the alternative
music era and no doubt a
good number of them will be
heard at the show.
Pick up a copy of Oceania
— head to the show —
Pumpkin heaven!
Limited tickets available
through Ticketmaster.
■ To be in to win simply put
your name, address and daytime
phone number on the back of a
standard sized envelope,
address it to the Smashing
make sure it reaches our office
