<strong>O3b</strong>Trunk customer terminals are sized to meet the customer’s Service Data Rate (SDR)<br />
requirements and offers service availability targets of 100%. The <strong>O3b</strong>Trunk recommended<br />
terminals for each region are based on link budget calculations based on the customer’s<br />
location and are designed to work with existing VSAT modems and transceivers.<br />

Description<br />
The new series auto acquire / auto track, General Dynamics<br />
SATCOM Technologies’ 2.4m <strong>Ka</strong>-<strong>Band</strong> tracking antenna has been<br />
designed to provide a reliable, trouble free solution for the <strong>O3b</strong><br />
terminal installations. Each terminal comprises a pair of tracking<br />
antennas under the control of a dedicated antenna control unit<br />
[ACU]. One antenna acquires and follows a rising <strong>O3b</strong> satellite in<br />
MEO orbit while the second antenna is parked in a home position<br />
for the next rising satellite. The <strong>O3b</strong> service is maintained by the<br />
antenna pair acquiring and tracking alternate satellites in the <strong>O3b</strong><br />
constellation. <strong>Terminal</strong>s have been designed to support a range of<br />
<strong>Ka</strong>-band SSPB’s ranging in output powers from 10 watts to 40 watts.<br />
The mechanical design has been optimized for high efficiency<br />
packaging to reduce shipping costs. Material selections for the<br />
reflector significantly reduce the risk for shipping damage when<br />
compared to metal reflector solutions. Factory pre-assembly of<br />
critical components eliminates the requirement for complex<br />
assembly procedures in the field.<br />
