Dear Angus Friends, WELCOME Welcome to Falcon Seaboard Ranches’ Angus Dispersal Sale in the Hill Country of the great state of Texas. To part with this set of genetic cutting-edge cattle is very hard; however, Texas has been very dry and most of the state is still dry. In addition, the headquarters ranch of Falcon Seaboard Ranches (Snaffl e Bit) has been sold. These two factors have overridden any emotion we have for this herd of cattle. We will share with the industry the genetics we worked so hard to secure and build. In starting Falcon Seaboard Ranches Angus herd, we all searched for breed leading donor cows. Falcon Seaboard propagated these donors with the latest embryo transfer technology. Factual accurate data collections at every economically important stage in the life of the herd built a complete set of AHIR records on every individual. These records will reveal a herd high in growth, both at weaning and yearling, while maintaining breed average or below birth weights. IMF actual percentages continue to amaze us as ultrasound data refl ects. The heart of the donor females were selected for their outstanding progeny, production and potential to offer curve bending, cuttingedge genetics to Angus breeders and the commercial beef industry. Dewhurst Dear Angus World, Falcon Seaboard Ranches will host its dispersal sale 10 a.m. on March 9 and 10, 2007 at the ranch between Fredericksburg and Kerrville on Highway 16. We want to extend the warmest welcome to come enjoy the Hill Country, visit old friends, view good cattle and participate in this historic sale. The heart of the cow herd really needs no introduction. These cows are known throughout the industry by their tattoo numbers: 023 and her full sister 2466 VRD’s mother 5044 and grandmother 3525 2000 Foundation Heifer 1510, pick of 2000 Sitz Angus Ranch heifers Summitcrest 2J02 and 080J and 1K20 Forever Lady 7122 Nebraska’s mother 367 Priorities have been the watchword as Falcon Seaboard was started and throughout its growth. Priorities in relation to customer service, production of serviceable genetic pieces to the puzzle, concern for employees, animal health and bio security, conduct of the business in a business like manner, plan and direction for the future have been emphasized by Lt. Governor David Dewhurst. More importantly, Governor Dewhurst stressed priorities of life. This little story illustrates these priorities. When stress has you about down, remember the mayonnaise jar and the coffee! A professor stood before his class with several items in front of him. He began by picking up a large mayonnaise jar and fi lled it with golf balls. He then asked the class if it was full and they agreed the jar was full. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly and pebbles rolled into the open spaces around the golf balls. He then asked the class if the jar was full and they agreed the jar was full. The professor then took a box of sand and proceeded to pour it into the mayonnaise jar. The sand sifted around the golf balls and the pebbles. Then the professor asked if the jar was full and the class all agreed that the jar was full. The professor then proceeded to pour two cups of coffee into the mayonnaise jar. The professor told the class: The jar represents your life. 1. The golf balls are the important things: God, family, children, health. 2. The pebbles are the other items that matter in your life: job, house, car, etc. 3. Sand is everything else...the small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar fi rst, there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. Same in life, if all our energy and time is spent on the small stuff, there is no room for the important things. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Make God and church first in your life, take time to play with your children and grandchildren, get medical checkups, take your partner out on a date. There will always be time to take the trash out and fi x the disposal. Take care of the golf balls fi rst, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand. One student asked what the coffee represented. The professor smiled and said “I’m glad you asked, it shows no matter how full your life is, there’s always room for a cup of coffee with a friend”. Priorities-that’s what Falcon Seaboard Ranches is all about. Stop by any time, the coffee pot is always on.
